Hello there! I have a Mailchimp Shopify related question that I would love some help with. I am not an expert in either: I built one Shopify site for a client and I normally just design Mailchimp newsletters and then hand them over to clients.
All of my other sites are on Squarespace and the integration there is pretty simple. There is a ‘sign up to our newsletter’ block, and people put their email addresses in there if they want to sign up for the newsletter.
I realise that Shopify is not only adding people who opt-in, but also everyone who has bought something from the store. They are added as contacts, not subscribers, but due to the large number of sales my client has, it’s meant that they will have to pay for the Mailchimp account, even though there are only 500 people who are subscribed to the newsletter.
Eventually, they will pay for an account, but even so, it will keep getting wildly expensive if every customer is added.
I’ve searched far and wide for a setting that will enable me to switch off this feature, and only add people who state that they want to be subscribers. But I can’t find anything anywhere. I think deleting the non-subscribers would be too much work.
Is what I’m trying to do impossible?
I may have got this all wrong, like I said I don’t totally know what I’m doing. Any help would be so so so appreciated!
Best,
Sarah
