Is it possible to remove /blogs/ suffix from url structure?
Hey @meetbirkan
Unfortunately, Shopify doesn’t let you remove the /blogs/ part from the URL, it’s built into the platform’s structure. The only workaround would be using a custom storefront or a headless setup, but that’s more advanced and likely overkill unless you’re going big with development.
Best,
Moeed
I’m at the Builder Wednesday event in Shopify’s NYC building right now and I’m building a community blog with using Shopify https://ecom.nyc
But i believe /blogs/category/ domain structure is gonna ruin my SEO efforts. Is there a video or a written guide for the custom storefront idea you mentioned?
Beside the fact you cannot change the /blogs/ format for the subfolder there is also a blog category included in the URL string:
/blogs/category-name/blog-title
this is super unfortunate as well from an SEO point of view!
Plenty available with a simple internet search.
Though the reality is if your asking these questions that’s a clue that the complexity of setting up a custom storefront is likely something you are NOT going to want to burn time on.
The juice ain’t worth the squeeze.
@meetbirkan Unfortunately, the answer here is no, as it is not allowed to do so on Shopify backend.
But there is an alternative way you can consider if meet your demand: Create another target URL and make a redirection from Shopify original URL to the new URLs you want without stable suffix like /blogs/. This can be found from Content-Menu-URL redirects on Shopify admin page, then click Create URL redirect button on the right upper corner to make your own redirections.
