Is it possible to modify the code to remove the word “free”.

Checkout page is managed by Shopify. If you want to remove this you need to set up store shipping rates. Refer https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shipping/setting-up-and-managing-your-shipping/setting-up-shipping-rates
