Has anyone got any ideas about the possibilty of unifying the cart between two different Shopify stores? Our aim is for something like https://www.mcdavidusa.com. Here they have 4 distinct brands which you switch by clicking on the logos above the nav bar. But the cart is not shared between each of the brands.
We want a similar expereince with distinct home pages and designs between the different stores but the cart to be shared between the stores.
For example taking two stores A and B. If customer comes and adds a product to the cart from A and then proceeds to go to store B to add another product from store B, then when going to the checkout page both the products (one from store A and another from store B) should be in the cart.
Are there any apps we can use for a shared cart or is this possible using a custom theme?
At this point, a single cart cannot be utilized across two separate Shopify stores. Each Shopify store acts as its own unique account with their own checkouts. This canāt be deleted and replaced with an existing one.
Your only option would be to take your stores and edit the checkout buttons on the cart page to redirect to the product page on a different website. For example: you have Website A, Website B, Website C. You could edit the checkout buttons on website B and C to redirect to the same product page on website A. That way all of the checkouts go through website A.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
Iām interested. I have the same questions. 2 websites need to share an ecommerce interface. Iām not on Shopify yet. Both sites are on Joomla and Iām thinking of migrating them but they need to be able to share the āStoreā part of purchasing products. Thanks for any ideas you have.
I am interested in your solution please let me know my requirements are similar I want multiple store that share the cart and checkout system each other.
For example customer add the one product in cart on website A and add the two products in cart on website B when he/she want to cart page of any website either it is website A or website B he/she show see the number of 3 products in cart and similar on checkout.
Iām not formally trained in code to provide you with an exact solution to edit āadd to cartā buttons on one websites product page to redirect to the checkout of a different website. However, Iām confident one of our Shopify experts would be able to help you out with any potential solutions to your needs.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
Hello @ananthu-lys@sanjaymathew@CandTel88@Basiap
We have built this solution for one of the brands. It requires all of the stores to share same domain but they can have different subdomains. For example, if you want store A, B and C to share same cart/checkout, then their domain can be like a.domain.com, b.domain.com, c.domain.com.
We are building the ability to share cart across different domains, itās still in development.

Unless your Yankee Candle they have perfected having 3 different sites and only one cart that is shared between them all. Shopify is stuck in the past, I will likely have to move off the platform with many others. They just are not keeping up with the tech!
