Is it wise to purchase a theme as a non UI designer?

I am planning to purchase a nice theme from Envato, but I am also scared that the support will not be there. I am a non UI designer and have a bad taste in colors. Is this a wise move?

Hi there, @Mivy !

Thanks for posting in the Shopify Community, I’m happy to share some context.

If you’re purchasing a theme outside of the Shopify theme store, I recommend contacting the developer directly to inquire about what kind of support options are available and whether you can test out the theme.

For ease of access to support and resources, it is recommended to use themes from the Shopify theme store. We ensure the themes that are available meet Shopify’s quality standards and are compatible with Shopify’s features.

Free and paid themes on Shopify both offer features like compatibility, store speed, accessibility, and mobile readiness. However, paid themes may offer more advanced features and customization options. Additionally, with paid themes from the Shopify theme store, you can preview them and test their functionality before you purchase. You can check out this help document to learn more.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with!

I have made customizations on Dawn theme and added JavaScript. Can I add
these Javascript to the new theme?

Hey, @Mivy !

Thanks for getting back to me. You can certainly edit the code of any theme you add from the Shopify Theme Store. If you have questions about the capacities and abilities of certain themes, I recommend contacting the developers before you purchase the theme. You can find the contact information and support documentation on any listing in the theme store, as shown here:
