Well, it is tragic then…
At least to know that this request in real pipeline and is work in progress would give some relief. But unfortunately I haven’t seen a word about it from Shopify.
Lets hope that if we keep pushing someone will notice it.
Topic summary
Polish Shopify merchants have been requesting Shopify Payments integration since 2021, expressing frustration over the inability to offer multi-currency checkout to international customers. This limitation creates competitive disadvantages compared to merchants in supported countries, as customers seeing foreign currencies (PLN) reportedly reduces trust and sales.
Key concerns raised:
- Higher transaction fees (nearly 2x) when using third-party payment gateways
- Inability to display prices in local currencies (EUR, GBP, USD) at checkout
- Unfair treatment compared to other Eastern European countries (Czech Republic, Romania) that received support
Workarounds discussed:
- Third-party solutions like Easy Pie Checkout with Stripe for multi-currency support
- Direct bank transfers for B2B customers
- Stripe integration with manual currency handling
- Some limitations noted with courier integrations (e.g., InPost pickup points)
Recent development (latest posts):
Shopify Payments appears to have launched in Poland as of early 2025. Documentation now lists Poland as supported, though rollout is gradual—currently available to only 5% of users for early access testing, with wider availability expected in coming days. Some merchants report activation issues despite meeting requirements (Polish billing address, two-factor authentication enabled).
