Is there a checkout issue for Apple Mac users?

I had a customer trying to proceed through to checkout but he couldn’t get through from his cart, just stayed in limbo. He was using an Apple Mac. He eventually used his i pad without a hitch, is there a problem with Mac users on this site?

It is not ideal that your customer experienced difficulties when trying to proceed through to checkout on your website. It’s possible that the issue was related to the customer’s device or browser, but it’s difficult to say for sure without more information. There are no known issues with Mac users on Shopify, in most cases if only one customer is affected then it likely is their browser or device causing the problem. Did the customer see any errors messages or provide you with any more context or screenshots?

There are some steps below that you can share with the customer(s), should the issue arise again:

  • Clear your cache and cookies on your browser. After this, completely reboot the browser. It might be worth getting the affected customer(s) to clear their cache too.
  • Try a different web browser, as well as incognito or private windows to rule out any browser issues.
  • When using incognito, if you’re still experiencing a delay, confirm you have disabled browser extensions, as these can change how pages function and look.
  • Ensure your web browser is up-to-date on the latest version (we don’t support every browser, but we do support these here).
  • Try another device like a computer or mobile phone.
  • Try on the Shopify Mobile App; this is usually the best step to try, as it will rule out any browser issues.
  • Ensure you do not have any firewalls or pop up blockers enabled on your device, as these can interfere.
