We’re looking to integrate our software with Shopify.
Our devs have looked at the API and we’ve read the API terms of use.
My question is, is there anything else we need to do ? I’ve spoken to Shopify chat and they weren’t quite sure. Is there a cost to integrating with Shopify? I assume we don’t have to join the partner program?
Any information would be great, have looked high and low on website and help centre and haven’t seen anything which clearly states steps.

Thank you for getting in touch. If you wish to integrate your own software with your Shopify store, you can do by building a private app. This option can be found at the bottom of the Apps section of the admin:
Clicking on the “Manage private apps” link will direct you to a page where you can enable private app development on your store:
Shopify does not charge you an extra fee to integrate and build a private app for your store, and you are not required to join our Partner program in order to do so. App developers may join the Partner program if they wish to build an app for other merchants to use, usually for a monthly fee.
I would recommend checking out our documentation on private apps, and for your developers to refer to Shopify’s API documentation for guidance when building the integration. Please note that while we provide these resources to help developers build apps, Shopify does not directly assist developers in terms of building an app and our support team are not trained to support and troubleshoot API issues.
