Is there a customer friendly way to connect a customer to a POS-purchase? We currently have to ask each customer at the cash register to provide us their email address in order to link the purchase to their profile and earn points at our Loyalty program (GROWAVE). It would be way easier and more fail-safe for everyone (clients and staff) if we would be able to scan a “loyalty card”/code at the POS to link a customer to a purchase (provided of course that it is a known customer).
Is there a way to do this with Shopify POS? Does anyone have experience with this?
The idea above regarding creating a barcode/qr-code with an email is fine if you expect your customers having their cards with them. The same thing can be done with the phone number that can be also used for one-time passwords to verify a customer if they will be spending some loyalty points with the purchase.
You can use a third-party app, like Barcodify - Customer Selector or Barcodeator, to create a scannable barcode for customer accounts. If you need to get help with third-party apps, then the app developers are always available to assist you. Simply reach out to them using the contact information found at the bottom of their app pages.

Indeed, there’s a friendly way to connect a customer to Shopify POS. By using Wallet Passes at the POS the whole process of data integration and customer identification becomes smooth and easy.
Thank you! This solution ticks all the boxes and is exactly what we have been looking for! I hope it will work with Growave as well.
In addition we might want to print the QRcode on a physical pass for people. But this functionality is great!
However I see the app is quite new and zero reviews. But as it seems to be the best solution so we will give it a try.
It is new on the Shopify App store, hence the lack of reviews. It works with growave via API integration. You can install jericommerce and growave app tiles at the POS and when identifying the user via QR it links the associated balance to the user.
The QR could be printed, but the user and related digital pass and QR would have to be created anyway, and it would lose all the digital properties, as push notifications, campaigns and associated links.
Hope this helps, you can give it a try, the first 50 passes are free too install.
