Is there a way to add separate variant quantities?

Hi all!

I’m wondering if there’s any way to add separate quantities of different variant types in Shopify? Obviously you can add different quantities of the same variant type like colour, but if you have a product with two variant types (colour and system for example), Shopify automatically generating a single variant for every combination doesn’t work for our products.

The product specifically is a DIY kit. Customers can buy the kit in various colours, and then have the option to pick accent accessories to go with it. We do these in smallish batches since they’re handmade. The only work-around I can think of is listing only the kit variants and having a notes box for customers to then specify what colour accessories they want, but that would be difficult for tracking inventory if we sell out of any colours. I haven’t been able to find a way to do this if it is possible (I am new to Shopify)

This is probably a dumb question, but I just couldn’t find anyone else who was in a similar situation.

One option for organising your store would be if you grouped these products using a product bundling app. This will allow you to group individual items so your customer can buy them as part of a bundle. Most product bundle apps will also allow you to offer unique discounts and give you a little extra functionality that you would typically get on the product page in the admin. There is a full range of bundling apps here, however, if you were looking for something specific then is app may be of use to you: Bundle Products and Discounts! This app will allow you to create a bundle with a single product & its all variants, gives you the facility to create a page on which you can list out all custom bundles of your store, as well as create a mix and match box (build your own box) which allows customers to add what they like to their own box.

Are you selling any other products on your site, or are you focusing solely on the DIY boxes?
