Some suppliers do not inform their customers which items are discontinued.
So once a year we want to delete all the out of stock of certain suppliers.
Any ideas, any apps who do this?

An app could maybe help you save some time if you have a very high number of vendors to manage, but otherwise you could probably consider to just use the Shopify native features.
You can create a temporary collection called Out Of Stock with the following condition
Inventory stock is less than 1
and
Product Vendor is equal to <vendor_name>
Then you can just go in Products > All Products and use the function More Filters > Collection to select the collection.
Select all products using the checkbox and then More actions > Archive products or More actions > Delete products.
An alternative is to use an app like Matrixify (for example), export all products into CSV, modify the Status column for the products for selected vendors and inventory quantity 0 or less, and reupload.
The idea is very good, however it does not work, it archives items with
stock as well.

I am not able to see the image you shared. I tested the proposed method and it seems working well to me.
Could be that for some products you didn’t check the “Track quantity” option?

Take a look at Mixtable. Mixtable is a spreadsheet like Google Sheets, but with all Excel-style formulas and behavior. And it seamlessly syncs to and from Shopify. You can easily sync your products to a worksheet, and then bulk edit your Shopify store’s data by filtering for the vendors you want and then either unpublishing the products or deleting them.
