Hi, I design product detail pages and brand visuals for beauty brands in Korea. I’m trying to figure out whether there’s real demand outside Korea for Korean-style design.
The way I see it, every country’s beauty market has its own visual sensibility. The US has one, Japan has one, and Korea definitely has one: milky tone-on-tone colors, texture close-ups, ingredient storytelling laid out as design, a soft but clinical feel. It’s a big part of why K-beauty brands read as premium, and it’s a look you can recognize instantly.
If you sell beauty or skincare on Shopify or Amazon: is that Korean visual style something you’d want for your own product pages? Have you ever tried to find a designer who understands it? Or do you feel it wouldn’t land with your customers?
Any reply would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading.
I think there’s definitely demand for it, but I’d probably sell the outcome rather than the fact that it’s specifically “Korean style.” For skincare especially, that softer clinical look can communicate quality and ingredients really well without making the page feel overly salesy.
I’ve seen a lot of Shopify beauty stores where the product itself is good but the PDP doesn’t really communicate why it’s different. Things like texture shots, ingredient explanations, and a more intentional visual hierarchy can make a pretty big difference. I use SiteGuru for the SEO side of my stores, and I think that’s where the design and SEO overlap too. A beautiful PDP doesn’t help much if the important product information is buried or the page isn’t structured properly.
I’d be curious whether you’ve noticed a difference between brands wanting the full Korean aesthetic versus brands just wanting certain elements of it. I could see the latter being easier to sell internationally because it gives brands something distinctive without making the whole site feel like it’s trying to imitate a Korean brand.
