I have recieved an email from “shopifytrafficconversion@gmail.com” explaining we have 72hrs to provide proof of a trademark license. I am concerned that it came from a gmail address as I would assume it should come from @Shopify_77 .com. I saw another post in the community with a similar email requesting money, but this one has not. There is a “reply yes for further steps” but I have not responded. I believe it is a scam but want to make sure Shopify does not actually require proof of a trademark license.

All emails sent from Shopify will come from the** @Shopify_77 .com**domain. However, many spammers send emails related to themes and other topics. So, be cautious about any emails or links you are asked to click on.

Hey, I just got the same email. It’s coming from @Gmail.com . So this is a scam? I was freaking out as soon as I saw it

Yes! I knew it! I just got an email like this too, and it almost looked legit at first until looked at the appearance of the email and things started to look off and I also saw the @gmail address and if you compare the way it looks to all past Shopify emails it so obvious it’s a scam. Glad I came here to check!

I also just received an email from a “shopifypromotionalagency@gmail.com” and i panicked it said i only had 42 hours.

Thank you! I l also got an email titled : TRADEMARK VIOLATION DETECTED ON YOUR SHOPIFY STORE
stating that "Failure to comply will lead to result in penalties up to $704,860 per violation, operational restrictions, store suspension, and permanent closure (Section 9, Shopify’s Intellectual Property Policy). Adherence to Shopify’s Terms and service and applicable law is compulsory (Section 11).
To mitigate risks, we strongly advise obtaining a registered trademark license within 24 hours. This ensures compliance with Shopify’s policies and regulatory standards and also to avoid severe consequences."

I’m glad I’m not the only one, I woke up scared
I was about to just delete my account and go back to SquareUp because I get like 10 emails a day saying I’m in violation & will be charged & shutdown. Whew, new account here freaking out…so glad I saw this. Thank you
