Is this email from risk-management@shopify.com legitimate?

I receive fake emails at times from people trying to be Shopify. But I’m not sure if this one is legitimate?

I’ve sent Shopify proof the last couple of years that the items in my store have all been purchased from licensed distributors. I wish they would look at their records instead of hassling me about the same thing. Not professional at all.

Hi there,

We noticed that your store, appears to be selling branded or trademarked products.

Please note that this may not be an exhaustive list of the branded or trademarked products in your store.

We’d like to continue supporting your business on Shopify, but first we require that you review and submit the “Attestation for the sale of branded or trademarked products” for all products on your Shopify store.

Please carefully review the attestation to ensure your store’s compliance. If we don’t receive your attestation by February 22, 2022, we may proceed with taking your store offline.

Kindly note that if you decide to remove the branded or trademarked products from your store, you will still need to sign the attestation.

Hi, @CLondon .

Thanks for reaching out in the community and bringing this to our attention. I understand how important this is to have this resolved for you. Rest assured, I’ll share best next steps in order to help you out.

I’d love to know what kind of store you have and products you sell?

After reviewing the message you’ve included and the email address, both look to be legitimate from Shopify. In regards to the content of the email, you must review the attestation to ensure your store’s compliance. I would review and follow the instructions as per the email you received. Best next steps are to refer to your ticket number that you have provided.

For future, if you notice you are receiving emails that do not seem to be legitimate, you can forward any phishing emails to Shopify’s safety inbox: safety@shopify.com. This can help protect your account against phishing and help Shopify build a record of attacks directed at merchants. I’ll share our help resource for more information on how to protect your account against phishing.
