Is this email from Shopify about trademarked products legitimate?

Hi all,

I just received this email from, what I believe is to be, shopify. I have my doubts though.

The email states it is from - risk-management@ shopify.com

However, I acted as if I was going to reply and the actual email is - legal@ legal-mailer.shopify.com

The email itself below. It is pretty vague. I, however, sell legitimate products from suppliers in Japan. Many people all over the internet sell the exact same items I do all over shopify, ebay and amazon.

Hi there,

We noticed that your store, (LINK TO MY SHOP), appears to be selling branded or trademarked products.

We’d like to continue supporting your business on Shopify, but first we require that you review and submit the "Attestation for the sale of branded or trademarked products” (THIS WAS HYPERLINKED) for all products on your Shopify store.

Please carefully review the attestation to ensure your store’s compliance. If we don’t receive your attestation by August 11, 2021, we may proceed with taking your store offline.

I just received the same exact email except for my ticket number at the bottom of the email is different. I had a support ticket open for a different issue but I asked a member of Shopify’s support team if risk-management@shopify.com was a legit email address. Still waiting to hear back from them. In their help section, it lists legal@shopify.com as the email address to report infringement or Copywrite issues so I’m thinking this is not a legit email address. Also all of the emails I receive from Shopify address me by name and in this email they say Hi there.

I just finished a live chat with a customer service agent. They asked for the ticket number and confirmed it is a real email.

I asked if clicking on any of the links is okay and they stated that I could. That I could also reply to the email for the supervisor reviewing my account to answer any questions I have.

I’m not sure what is going to happen now. I have heard horror stories about this on reddit, but did not think it would happen to me. I own and sell authentic products. I do not dropship and I have thousands of happy customers. I sell collectible toys and not very expensive ones ($30 or less) either, so I don’t consider my company high risk.

@Darkruler What happen did you signed the form ? Are they really Shopify ?
