I have been getting a LOT of phishing emails lately. Is the highlighted message below legit or a scam? Is there a way to reduce the number of fraud or services-for-hire emails.

Without even knowing the sender’s email address that does look like a scam. SEO affecting compliance, really? Plus there are a few “kindly” words that scammers seem can not shake out. It is like " I want to rob you so kindly give me all your money". And that email is most likely from a Gmail account?

“Shopify will only send emails from official domains such as @shopify.com, @email.shopify.com, @em.shopify.com, and @shopify-billpay.melio.com. Emails from public email services such as Gmail, Yahoo, Apple mail, or Hotmail aren’t from Shopify and should be treated as potential phishing attempts.”

If you search here or just Google you will find hundreds of topics with similar emails, like trying to pay for a free theme and so on.

How to reduce spam, well never easy but you can try to set up some filters in the email service or app you might be using. For example, if the sender has “shopify” in the name but sender’s email ends with “gmail/com” you can filter it out and delete it straight away so you do not need to see it. Similar for other keywords.
