No. This is a legal stipulation in most countries to stop things like money laundering. You will need to confirm your identity - not just on Shopify but most platforms that handle money transactions.

Yes indeed, you will have to submit the requested documents in order to continue being able to accept payments. There is no way around this and the exact documents requested will have to be uploaded in order to prove you reside in a supported region and to confirm your ID.
For some context behind why we are doing this: We’re making updates to our onboarding requirements, which is a common practice; all other businesses and payments providers, like Shopify Payments, must ensure that we are compliant with local regulations. Inputs into these updates include regulatory changes, financial partner requirement changes, card network requirements, and an assessment of our customer portfolio against our company’s risk program. As these reviews will happen periodically, we’ve updated our products and created new tools to help you identify and collect new information when needed.
Some advice for making sure your uploads are accepted: Make sure that the Photo ID is a government issued ID, in .png/.jpeg format, and is clearly legible. Documentation should be the document requested in the admin, should be free of reflections, and should be high enough resolution that the details can be viewed easily. For address verification, we cannot reuse a document. For example, if a driver’s license was used for identity verification, an additional document such as a utility bill will need to be included if an address verification document is required as well. Merchants should only upload these documents through the banner request. Do not save to the Files section in the admin. I hope this helps to clarify things!
