Is "what products am I missing from my catalog" a pain point worth solving?

Hi everyone,

I am a new app dev here, just asking if my idea is worth solving before building it

The idea: check a store’s catalog, use AI to find what products are likely missing, then verify those against Shopify’s global product catalog to confirm that other stores do sell them together

For example: you sell shoes but don’t sell socks, the app catches that, and confirms that it’s a real gap (other stores sell both)

Is this something worth solving? And currently how do you figure out what to add to your catalog?

I don’t think this is a solution people want to pay or even spend time on. Most shops would come with their own depth and understanding of the product lines and industries they represent, and they would have way more product ideas that you can act on.

In most cases, idea itself is just the beginning; supply, logistic and even listing are the actual problems we need help with.
