Issue adding PayPal as a payment method

I’m having an issue adding PayPal to my Shopify store.
I have already activated Stripe as a payment method, but PayPal does not appear in the “Additional payment methods” section. Even when I search through the available payment methods, I still cannot find any PayPal option.

Could you please help me resolve this issue ?

This is actually expected behavior in Shopify and usually not a bug.

From your screenshot, it looks like your store is currently using Stripe as the main payment provider instead of Shopify Payments. That affects how PayPal appears in Shopify.

Here’s how it works:

  • If your store is based in the US or France and you use Shopify Payments, PayPal is available through PayPal Wallet inside Shopify Payments. In that case, it will not appear separately under “Additional payment methods”.

  • If you use a third-party provider like Stripe, then PayPal Express Checkout normally appears under Additional payment methods, although availability can vary depending on your store’s region.

A few things you can check:

  1. Go to Settings → Payments → Additional payment methods and search specifically for “PayPal Express Checkout”.

  2. Check your store country under Settings → General. Shopify filters available payment methods based on the store region.

  3. If your store is in the US or France, Shopify does not allow Shopify Payments + standalone PayPal Express Checkout together. PayPal is only available through PayPal Wallet in Shopify Payments for those regions.

Also, one important thing to keep in mind:

If you switch from Stripe to Shopify Payments, the extra 2% third-party transaction fee shown in your screenshot would be removed, and you would also get access to PayPal Wallet integration. But that’s a bigger payment setup decision depending on your business needs.
