Hi. Hoping someone can help me as i just cant seem to be winning. I have an online clothing store, and i am needing to add individual material and care instruction detail for each product. When i go into my online store and ‘customize’ the products - what i add in then filters down to each product, meaning each different clothing item now has the same material and care instruction detail. I have also added it into metafields, and done it individually for each product however when i click into each product, none of the information is feeding through so its just blank. Really struggling here and i really need to add this info in asap. Forgot to mention i have the Dawn theme on Shopify, strange that the layout for each product comes with the standard ‘materials and care instructions’ but cant seem to individually amend each product. Sorry for my essay. Looking forward to feedback
Topic summary
A Shopify store owner using the Dawn theme struggled to add unique material and care instructions to individual clothing products. When customizing through the theme editor, changes applied globally to all products instead of individually.
Solution provided:
- Use metafields to store product-specific information
- In the theme customizer, click on the collapsible row element
- Select “Insert Dynamic Source” (icon on the right)
- Choose the appropriate metafield from “Current Page - Main Product” section
- This connects the metafield data to display on each product page
Visual guidance included:
Screenshots were shared showing where to locate the Collapsible Row settings and Row Content fields in the theme editor.
Outcome:
The original poster confirmed the metafield approach worked successfully after following the detailed instructions. The issue is now resolved.
Using metafields is the approach I’d take.
If you’ve already got content in the metafields, when you go to the products page to customize it, click on the collapsible row that you want to edit. The Row Content options should have a little icon on the right and if you hover over it, you should see it say “Insert Dynamic Source”, and if you click on it, the resulting list should container a section that says “Current Page - Main Product”, you may have to click on show more to see the list of available metafields. Selecting your metafield in there should show the content from that field in your product.
Hi TWardrobe,
If I understand your issue correctly, you want to add in information to the fields “Dimension”, “Materials”, etc on the product page.
To do this for each item go to the product page on the website and select the label you want to add the information to such as, dimensions. On the left it will say Collapsible Row and you will enter your information into the row content. You can also change the icon by selecting icon. I hope this helps.
Thank you

Thank you very much for your detailed reply, I tried what you suggested again and it worked, thank you very much
I faced a similar issue when managing product listings for an aged care facility project. Adding material and care instructions to each product took extra time, but I realized how crucial it was for ensuring safety and comfort—especially in aged care environments where every detail matters. Clear instructions help caregivers make better choices and reduce product misuse. As an aged care consultant, I’ve learned that attention to these small details can make a big difference in overall care quality. For more insights, visit my Website
