Issue with bowser caching customer data

Topic summary

A Shopify store is experiencing a browser caching issue where customer shipping addresses from previous sessions persist when sales representatives log into different customer accounts on the same terminal to place orders.

Specific Problem:

  • When checking out, the correct customer account displays at the top, but the shipping address fields populate with data from the previously logged-in customer
  • The billing address shows correctly for the current customer
  • Browser autofill is already disabled, ruling out that as the cause

Browser Behavior:

  • Issue occurs in Chrome (even in incognito mode and after closing/reopening browser)
  • Safari is not affected

Current Workarounds:

  • Clearing browser data between each customer login (slow and inconvenient)
  • Using guest mode (works but not ideal for sales rep workflow)

Status: The issue remains unresolved. The user is seeking alternative solutions that don’t require clearing browser data after each customer account switch.

Hello!

We have a situation where multiple customer accounts are accessed from the same terminal. When a customer goes to place an order, the previous customers shipping address shows up as the shipping address on the checkout page.

Clearing the browser data between customers solves the problem, but is very inconvenient.

Any thoughts?

Doug

Browser is Chrome. Doesnt seem to affect Safari.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Yabiola, thanks for the fast reply!

I already have autofill turned off, and it isnt filling one of my saved addresses. It is filling the address from the previous account. Normally when checking out using a customer account, all the address fields are collapsed and the address information is listed. On Chrome, the correct customer account is shown at the top, but the address panel is expanded and has the previous customers data entred into each field. The “use different billing addres” box is selected, and the current customers address shows up under billing address. I have tried using an incognito window and also closing the browser between accounts. The same thing happens.

The issue arrises because we have sales reps logging into many customer accounts to place orders. Clearing the bowser between each account is slow. Guest mode seems to work, but isnt ideal. We can make that work for now.

Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for all your help.
