Issue with image and color synchronization between Gelato and Shopify

Topic summary

Multiple users are experiencing persistent synchronization issues between Gelato (print-on-demand service) and Shopify, specifically affecting product images and color variants.

Primary Issues:

  • When products with front and back designs sync from Gelato to Shopify, only the first image displays correctly
  • The second image (back view) shows incorrect colors or fails to update when customers select different color variants via dropdown
  • Some products display with no design mockups at all, or only show mockups for a single color option

Technical Context:

  • One user is running the Spotlight theme, though it’s unclear if theme-related
  • Standard troubleshooting (verifying image order in Gelato, re-syncing products) has not resolved the problem
  • Users report contacting Gelato support but receiving responses that don’t directly address the core issue

Current Status:
The problem appears to be worsening according to recent reports. No working solution has been identified, and the discussion remains open with users seeking guidance on specific Shopify or Gelato settings that might resolve the synchronization failures.

Good morning everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with product synchronization between Gelato and Shopify. I’d like to share the details to see if anyone else has encountered the same problem and how they resolved it.

Description of the Problem1. Images not syncing correctly:

  • On Gelato, I created products with a custom design on both the front and back. For each product, I selected at least two images in the mockup: the first shows the front, and the second shows the back.

  • After syncing the products to Shopify, only the first image displays correctly. The second image (the back) displays with an incorrect color (for example, if the product is sand-colored, the second image might appear yellow).

  1. Issue with color change:

    • When a customer changes the product color using the dropdown menu on Shopify, only the first image updates correctly. The second image remains unchanged or displays the wrong color. In the attached images, the color was changed from sand to azalea.

Additional Details- I’m using the Spotlight theme, but I’m not sure if the issue is related to the theme or the integration between Gelato and Shopify.

What I’ve Already Tried- I’ve verified that the images on Gelato are correct and in the right order.

  • I’ve re-synced the products on Shopify, but the issue persists.

Question

Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Do you know how to resolve it? Are there specific settings on Shopify or Gelato that I should check?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi,

Have the same Problem. No Idea how to correct that ??‍ :male_sign:

Did you ever get any solution for this issue, I am currently suffering from the same thing. shows the back but the front image stays the same for each va

riant.

It’s getting worse, not better! I have a sweatshirt with no design on it at all for all 7 colour options. I have also had other shirts with only one mockup added in one colour.

I have messaged them, but the answers never address the issue directly.
