I frequently enter manual orders (I write orders at shows, then enter them in Shopify to ship.) Starting last night, I get an “unable to create shipping label” error message. The only way I can work around it is to add another item to the order–then I can create and print the label.
Is anyone else having issues like this?
Hey @pferrellnewf
First thing to check - are these orders hitting some kind of minimum requirement or validation rule? Sometimes shipping carriers have weight or value minimums that trigger errors. If adding another item makes it work, maybe the original order is falling below some threshold that your shipping setup requires.
Also check if there’s been any recent changes to your shipping settings or carrier accounts. Sometimes carrier integrations get disconnected or credentials expire, which can cause weird errors on manual orders specifically. Go into your shipping settings and make sure everything’s still connected properly.
Another possibility is that there’s something incomplete about how the manual order is being created - maybe a required field isn’t being populated that Shopify needs to generate the label. When you add another item, it might be triggering some validation that fills in whatever was missing.
Good morning and thanks for your advice! The issue was resolved last night when I went back in to create the day’s labels, so I’m wondering if it was a glitch caused by heavy volume on Shopify from Monday. Appreciate your help, and have a great day!
