I realized that Shopify has changed the Bulk Editor UI not long ago and I don’t know if it improves the user experience.
Here’s some issues I have with the new UI so far, hope Shopify can combine the pros of the old and new UI?
Adjusting Column/Fields Width
Pros of the Old UI
Allows user to adjust the column width, it’s very handy when you want to see multiple columns in the same view without scrolling left and right all the time.
Pros of the New UI
Has the Product Title column fixed, so it’s visible at all times.
Adding/Removing Product Tags
Pros of the Old UI
Allows user to add/remove tags without affecting the existing tags across all products.
Pros of the New UI
None…?
Example:
I’d like to add ‘New Arrivals’ tag on 5 products, 2 of these products are already tagged with ‘Mens’ and 3 with ‘Womens’; I’d like to add new tags and keep the current tags as they are.
Under the Old UI, I can select all 5 products and add the new tag at once, all current tags stay the same.
Under the New UI, all the products will be unified having the same tags as the product I’m editing. If the product being edited is tagged with ‘Womens’, then all the products will be tagged with ‘New Arrivals’ and ‘Womens’ only.
Memorize Selected Fields/Column Preference
Pros of the Old UI
Memorizes the selected fields from last time using bulk editor, so you don’t have to edit fields every time doing bulk edit.
Pros of the New UI
Very responsive after selecting/removing new fields; the Old UI takes a few second to refresh each time you add/remove a field.
Example:
The New UI’s default fields are Price, Compare at Price and SKU. Personally I always need to unselect Compare at Price and select the other fields I need, every time I use the Bulk Editor.
*This function doesn’t always work on the Old UI either, it works every now and then.
Attached pictures of the Old and New Bulk Editor for easy reference, thanks for reading and hopefully someone can fix this, cheers.
