It would be great if I could add products by product type to shipping profiles INSTEAD OF HAVING TO ADD EACH PRODUCT INDIVIDUALLY.

I have been requesting this feature from Shopify since before the pandemic and Shopify has FAILED to add this feature.

Please add this feature Shopify.

There is a way to stop adding products one at a time. In the shipping profile, when you click Add products, use the search and filter options to narrow the list (you can filter by product type, then select all the results at once) rather than picking them individually. That gets you most of the benefit today, it just isn’t dynamic, so new products still need adding manually.

Also, worth posting a request on community.shopify.dev where Shopify’s own people read it, which is the one place that gives it a real shot.

Adding to Moeed’s point: if you filter by product type inside Add products and use the top checkbox to select all matching results, you can bulk-add in one go. For a semi-automated setup, you can also tag products (e.g. “oversized”) and filter by tag when building the profile — still manual on new products, but faster to maintain. The truly dynamic option is Shopify Functions (delivery customization) or an app like Intuitive Shipping / Advanced Shipping Rules, which assign rates by product type/tag automatically without touching the profile each time.

I agree that this would be a useful improvement, especially for stores with large catalogs.

Having the ability to add products to a shipping profile based on Product Type would make managing shipping much easier than selecting products individually. It would also be particularly helpful when new products are regularly added, since merchants could manage shipping rules at the product type level instead of constantly updating the profile manually.

Hopefully Shopify considers adding more bulk and rule based options to shipping profiles in the future.

+1. Being able to assign shipping profiles by product type would save a lot of time and make managing large catalogs much easier than adding products individually.
