Known Issue: Request Entity Too Large

When viewing https://community.shopify.com for an extended time, this error may appear, preventing you from browsing the community.

This error can be the result of large cookies being sent to the Community from your web browser. For example, it could be triggered by actions such as refreshing an active topic frequently.

Workaround

While we are investigating this with our partners, we would like to offer some workarounds. If you are impacted by this issue, please complete the following steps while we investigate this issue.

### Clear your browser cookies

First, clear your Shopify Community cookies.

  1. Completely close, and reopen Google Chrome

  2. Click on the three dot icon in the top-right corner of the browser.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. In the search bar enter Content.

  5. Select Cookies and other site data.

  6. Click See all cookies and site data.

  7. In the top-right corner Search Cookies bar, enter “community.shopify” without the quotes.

  8. Provided one or both of the items below are shown, click Remove All Shown.

Note: If you ran into this issue on other browsers, please confirm with our supported browsers and refer to How to clear cookies in Firefox, Safari, and other browsers.

Close your browser, open it again and go to https://community.shopify.com. If the issue persists please Incognito/Private browsing as an alternative workaround.

### Use Incognito mode1. At the top right of the Chrome browser, click the three dot icon, and select New Incognito Window.

  1. A new window appears. In the top corner, check for the icon

  2. Log in your Community account and continue browsing.

Note: You can also use a keyboard shortcut to open an Incognito window:

  • Windows, Linux, or Chrome OS: Press Ctrl + Shift + n.
  • Mac: Press ⌘ + Shift + n.
