Landing page type is categorizing all secondary language pages as “None.”
Is this a known issue? From what I can tell, this categorization is global, automatic, and can’t be customized per store, so it should be the same across all stores. I would have expected that an issue like this would be reported already. However I couldn’t find any other posts about this issue.
Is it just that no one is using this data attribute in the Shopify reporting?
Shopify describes Landing page type as the type of the first page a visitor landed on, but I can’t find anything in their documentation saying secondary-language URLs should be reported as “None.”
One useful test would be to add both Landing page path and Landing page type to the same report.
If the translated URL is showing correctly in Landing page path, but the type is still “None”, that points more toward a Shopify reporting/classification issue than something wrong with the store setup.
I would also test the same page in the default language and secondary language side by side. If only the translated version becomes “None”, that would be a useful example to send to Shopify Support.
So I contacted Shopify support about this and they said that it’s a known behavior. I said that from my point of view it looks like a bug and should be fixed. The support agent said they would pass the feedback along.
