Leaky Bucket is more like a flushing toilet

Has anyone pointed out to Shopify that their “Leaky Bucket”, for adding products, doesn’t function like a leaky bucket, but rather like a flushing toilet?

In a leaky bucket system, I should be able to add 1000 items over a period of say 3 hours, and the bucket should immediately be leaking at a rate of 1 item every 86.4 seconds. So after the 3 hour upload of 1000 items there should be just enough room to get an extra 125 items into the bucket. When the bucket gets full, I should only have to wait 2.4 hours before I can upload an additional 100 items.

However, the Shopify app works more like a flushing toilet. If I fill the toilet with 1000 items in the course of 3 hours, nothing more can be added until the toilet starts flushing. The flushing starts 24 hours after the first item was added, and continues over the course of 3 hours until it has fully flushed. More products can be added once the toilet starts flushing, but not before.

Do they ever plan to fix this? An actual leaky bucket system would be much easier to work with, but the flushing toilet system sucks, and only causes us to upload more often that needed due to timing issues.
