Is there a broad “average” of how long businesses look to change their packaging? I work on the basis that we should “overhaul” or change things in a major way every 2 years. However each change creates a lot of waste and is a major investment of time. I often have to vigorously argue the cost to my partners each time we do this. Im mindful always of consumer expectations. So is there any industry “average” that you see that is a good benchmark?
Topic summary
A business owner seeks guidance on typical packaging redesign cycles, currently working on a 2-year overhaul schedule. They face challenges justifying the significant costs and waste generated by each redesign to their partners, while trying to balance consumer expectations.
One response suggests redesign frequency depends on company-specific factors and branding strategy, recommending quarterly, seasonal updates as an alternative approach. However, no definitive industry benchmark or average timeline is provided in the discussion, leaving the question of standard practices largely unresolved.
All depends on your company and the branding, but I say leep it quarterly and seasonal! For more questions go to support@arka.com and thanks for messaging in!
