Hi Emmanuel, I run a lingerie brand called ENCHAINE, and we’ve been facing ongoing issues with Google Shopping and Google Ads rejecting our products due to “nudity” or “excessive skin exposure.” Since lingerie is an essential apparel category, how can we ensure our products comply with Google’s policies while still showcasing them accurately?
Are there specific image guidelines, creative best practices, or workarounds that lingerie brands can use to get approved and maintain visibility on Google Shopping?
Thank you in advance.
Hello Enchaine, thank you for your question and welcome to the Shopify AMA, I’m your host, Emmanuel from FeedArmy.
That is a common problem, what I tell my clients, is to change the images to be either on a mannequin, or without a model.
Sometimes they can get approved, if the model does not overly sexualize themselves in specific poses.
But I would first try and avoid sexual poses. IE try neutral poses.
If that doesn’t work, use a mannequin or without a model.
Hope this helps.
I also wonder if just removing the human model so just the apparel is left but still shaped like on a person in a pose matters; or gets a pass just like a see-through mannequin.
@PaulNewton I don’t see any issues if the model is removed. Selling sexual clothing itself is allowed, so no issues, it’s just the images that are going to cause issues, if it has any sexual suggestions.
