Liquid Code to refer to a certain number on an external page

@namphan , this might be something you can help me with.

Dear Community,

I would like to have a liquid code that refers to a certain number on an external website. The external website in this case is the public dashboard of my Ecodrive account. On this page the number of trees planted through our business is displayed. Rather than using the badge Ecodrive offers, I would prefer or more subtle appearance in which the number is updated by an external link and embedded in a statement.

For Example:

Place an order, plant a tree.

“Externally linked number”+ trees planted

Ideally a visual effect could be added, that when my homepage is opened, the number rapidly climbs from 1 to the actual number that is linked.

Hi @selannastudio15 , this will require quite a bit of work to achieve, more than a few steps that could be shared on a forum.

Are you currently work with an agency?

No, I don’t work with an agency. I’ve only just started setting up my Shopfiy Store and so far the hurdles I ran into could be solved by this amazing community. So to make sure I understand you right, you say it can be done but it’s a big undertaking. How long do you think it would take to build something like that?

Hi @selannastudio15 This is an advanced theme customization beyond the scope of the forum unless there is some missing implementation detail that clarifies the technical requirement and capabilities available for this.

Simply linking to a website can’t dynamically update the text of that link based on target pages content.

So this can only work if the external thirdparty allows the page to be fetched with javascript for parsing which may be possible if it’s embeddable in an iframe/badge, or has some sort of frontend api to get just the number.

If it only has a backend api you will need middleware apps/services to put that data in the page or into the shopify admins data for using in liquid logic.
