Liquid testing environment for store notifications?

Hi All!

I have been wondering what testing environment you use for managing the notifications sent for the stores. I think I get the basic Liquid syntax by now and I’ve drafted some conditional formatting based on what item has been shipped to a customer, only to discover that the customized message for a bundle has been sent for every other order as well. I’d love to be able to test it more thoroughly than I am able when I have to base it off notifications sent from a working store. Do you have any suggestions for that?

I feel that the only difficult thing with working with Liquid is that sometimes it’s just complicated to test it.

You are going to want to spin up a development store via a Shopify Partner’s account. From there you would need to add the necessary products and variants to test with but you can place test orders and utilize line item properties, tags, etc. to be able to alter the output of the notification emails.

That’s my recommendation so that you do not do anything to negatively affect live traffic that a storefront may have before knowing that it should work because you were able to thoroughly review it in the test environment first.
