Local Pickup for Local Customers within mile radius

Can Shopify apply the same feature as Local Delivery with Local Pickup? Where it is only enabled if the customer is within a certain (user’s preference) mi/km radius?

It doesn’t make sense for Local Pickup to be available if the customer is 100+ miles away from your location.. right?

I know there’s a topic about how to hide the address for online stores that does not have a brick and mortar location (such as myself). This feature could minimize the exposure of the address if you are not able to hide the address from the customer!

When local pick-up is selected the shipping address actually is not collected… only the billing. So the issue you will find here is that sometimes people still have old addresses connected to their card that may very well be several hundred miles away. Or they are ordering for someone else. If they did collect the shipping addresses then yes, absolutely that wouldn’t make any sense, but this information is not collected so it would be hard to determine a users actual location. They don’t collect this information due to there being no delivery and that is why it is a bit different with the local delivery.

when checking out, the shipping method is blank or no options until customers put address in. Can local delivery option be under a similar feature? I see that address is a requirement before anyone can checkout.

Reason why I opened this thread is because I have had multiple local customers asking if Local Pickup is available. Since I do not want my address to be visible by anyone all over the country when I enable local pickup, I usually tell them to just pay shipping and I can refund them if they want to pick it up. More often than not, this results to a loss of customer.
