When I started setting up Shopify, I was concerned about what I saw Shopify wanted to charge for shipping in addition to what the POD companies. I hired someone from Canada to help check out the situation. They did their work, I paid them and off I went.
I had a few glitches while I was experimenting before going live and they assisted. All is good again.
Turns out this is what they did:
- They set my Shopify up so that IT charges a shipping rate and I have to manually remove every shipping rate that gets added by the POD when I upload a product. This is just so tedious and time consuming as I’m starting up so I’m uploading like a crazed hyena!
- Now that I have a couple of sales going through, the first one cost me $7.22 and the second one cost me$0.29. I’m now $7.51 in the hole.

What I really wanted was just to remove all shipping from Shopify and have it taken care of via the POD. It seems to me that each item I add to my store should work like that. I need a solution quick as I gave out about a dozen Gift Cards to my friends in order to boost sales and get some reviews and word of mouth.
I increased the shipping in Shopify but it’s never going to be accurate as they have it set for total spent rather than by weight… and anything shipped in or from Canada is atrociously expensive. It really makes me feel like crying as I trusted recommended help, chose someone in Canada so they would understand the cost of shipping up here… and it’s like they have their own “solution” to a perceived problem and I’m feeling quite trapped by it all.
Thank you for any advice, help, assistance, a shoulder to cry on…
I really thought that it would all be taken care of when one synced the PODs to Shopify… maybe a tweak… but not disaster and loss of money…
