Full disclosure: I’m the developer of BestTrack, a Shopify order tracking app.
We’re building it for dropshipping, cross-border, and multi-carrier stores that receive repeated “Where is my order?” questions — especially during the period before a carrier makes its first scan.
The problems we’re trying to solve are:
Customers have to visit generic carrier websites to track packages
Tracking may appear inactive before the carrier’s first update
Merchants spend time answering the same shipping questions
Customers receive too little information when a shipment is delayed
BestTrack currently provides:
A branded, self-service order tracking page
Real-time tracking across 3,100+ carriers
Automatic shipping update emails
A tracking analytics dashboard
Custom checkpoints such as “Quality checked” or “Packed” before carrier pickup
Region masking for stores that don’t want certain transit locations displayed
I’m looking for a few Shopify merchants who are willing to try it and share honest feedback:
Which shipping situations generate the most support tickets for your store?
Is the gap before the carrier’s first scan a problem for your customers?
What would make an order tracking page genuinely useful to your business?
To be transparent about pricing:
Free plan: up to 300 orders per month
Pro plan: $9/month for up to 1,000 orders, including region masking, custom checkpoints, and customizable email templates
Additional Pro orders are $0.03 each
Here is the official Shopify App Store listing:
If you try it, I’d really appreciate hearing what was useful, confusing, or missing. Please feel free to share your feedback directly in this thread.
You’ve clearly outlined the target problems and the current feature set. To make feedback from testers actionable, which carrier or shipping workflow produces the longest gap before the first scan in your stores?
This app could be really helpful for dropshipping and cross-border stores, especially for reducing WISMO (Where is my order?) support tickets.
The biggest pain point for merchants is usually the pre-first-scan gap —when a tracking number is generated, but due to international or multi-carrier shipping, it takes several days for the first scan to appear, which causes customers to raise the most support tickets. If BestTrack can smoothly manage this gap using pre-carrier custom checkpoints and transit region masking, it will be a very useful tool for merchants.
The longest pre-scan gaps we’re focusing on usually happen in cross-border and dropshipping workflows with multiple handoffs. A tracking number may be created when the order is packed, but the first carrier scan might not appear until the parcel reaches a consolidation hub or line-haul carrier.
We don’t want to claim that one carrier is always the worst, since the delay can vary significantly by route and fulfillment workflow. This is why BestTrack’s custom checkpoints can show real pre-carrier stages such as “Quality checked,” “Packed,” and “Handed to the logistics partner.”
Are there any particular carriers, routes, or fulfillment workflows where you’ve seen this gap happen most often?
Thank you — this is exactly the scenario we’re trying to address.
BestTrack’s custom checkpoints are designed to fill that silent period before the first carrier scan with merchant-defined stages such as “Quality checked,” “Packed,” or “Waiting for carrier pickup.” Region masking can also hide selected transit locations while keeping the shipment status and timeline visible to the customer.
We’re currently trying to understand how merchants would prefer these pre-scan updates to work. Would fulfillment-based checkpoints, time-based updates, or merchant-defined rules be the most useful for your workflow?
