My client is a Photographer. She sells “photo sessions.” We need a solution for her to be able to upload the final digital photos and some video to a page that she can password for the client to access their photos.
The Locksmith App should work for the password, but I’m trying to find a simple “gallery page” solution.
I’m even considering maybe a dedicated Gallery product not on shopify where she can create password galleries for her clients.
I got here because I initially thought she just needed to upload a photo or two for each client. That’s easy enough with a page. Just create a page, upload a couple of photos, use Locksmith to password protect it, and send a link. Done. I’d love to be able to add a “Gallery” to the page so she could upload maybe 30 or more pictures. That would be perfect.
We dont have a specific one in mind. Just a basic gallery feature to upload photos to, probably shows thumbs in a grid, click to view larger and download.
Use metaobjects and or metaobjects web pages feature; I haven’t checked locksmiths support for metaobject-webpages but it should be able to just operate on the url(s).
If you have time to burn ask the “AI” sidekick in the theme editor to generate a section for the text requirements, or reach out to me for custom section services.
Otherwise trawl the free themes on the theme store for a section that meets needs and transplant it to the target theme.
Or just search the app forum, or the app store itself for a gallery app.
I guess this is why I’m having a hard time. Hae you ever seen Amazon Photos, Google Photos, Facebook, Photobucket, ZenFolio, etc etc.. Any type of app that can allows one to create folders/albums and then upload photos to those albums and display them with the only additional requirement is to password protect each clients photo session. On photo apps that might be with a password on the album, but in Shopify, if there was a photo album plugin, just passwroding the page with something like Locksmith would work.
I’ve coded albums for Forums and eCommerce sites in the past, but in those cases the sites were hosted on a webhosting platform so integration was just adding the code to whatever site we were working with. I would have thought a simple gallery plug-in was more common because I used to get tagged to whip up an app all the time. I guess with Instagram and all the “photo specific” sites out there, it’s no longer a thing.
Thanks for reaching out, The_Scriptflow. I’d love to hear your thoughts, but honestly, the simplest solution seems to be having my client create a PicFlow account. After each session, she can just upload the photos there and send her clients a password-protected gallery link.
I tested it myself—created an account, set up a gallery, and uploaded images in under 10 minutes. I can technically embed PicFlow galleries into Shopify, but that would add unnecessary steps for both my client and whoever manages the Shopify store.
Plus, Shopify has its own limitations: a 20MB per-image limit and a cap of 250 files on the basic plan. For about the same cost as Locksmith alone, PicFlow’s plans start with 100GB of storage and include built-in password protection. Hard to beat.
So the current plan, as I see it, is this: she sells her services in Shopify, books appointments, gets paid, etc. Then, once the work is done, she uploads the photos to PicFlow and sends clients the protected link.
Hi there! I’ve worked with similar situations for photographers, and there are a couple ways to handle this. One simple route is to use a gallery app from the Shopify App Store (for example, POWR Photo Gallery, Cozy Image Gallery or Enorm Image Gallery). These apps let you create a gallery section with dozens of images and even video, and you can embed the gallery on a page that you password protect with Locksmith.
If you prefer to stay native, you can upload the images to the Files section of Shopify and build a custom page template that displays them in a grid, but that does require some Liquid/CSS work. For very client specific galleries, some photographers also use dedicated services like Pixieset or ShootProof and just link to the gallery from their Shopify site. Those platforms are built for delivering client galleries and have built‑in password protection.
Unfortunately the storage limitations on Shopify kinda ruled this out. Thanks though, that’s exactly what I was looking for until I learned the space/size limits.

Is there a special reason you want to do that for her with Shopify? She is not selling anything justs needs folders as per client… there are solutions such as picdrop.com that are exactly for that - or am I missing something?
If your client needs a clean, private gallery where each customer can access 30+ final photos and videos, you actually have a few solid options depending on how much control and simplicity you want.
Based on your client’s requirements, she want to create gallery page for ‘photo sessions’ with password protection. If we break it down, we may find two main requirememts:

Password protection so that she can keep photos and videos secure with limited access.
As of you are using the Locksmith app for password, which is great.
