Hi everyone! I’m building a store called SupportUKtoday and I have a big mission but a $0 budget for custom apps.
I need to set up two things without paying for expensive monthly app fees:
A way for customers to add a donation to their cart.
A way to display the SHOUT crisis text line info (text SHOUT to 85258) prominently on my cart or product pages to raise awareness.
Does anyone have a “Liquid” code snippet or a workaround using Metafields or Theme Blocks that would allow me to do this for free?
I’m using the [Insert Theme Name] theme. Any help or direction would be amazing!
Did you try asking the Shopify AI helper Sidekick?

It is not the same and not really helpful.
It’s actually quite helpful. For a donation, you can go about it in one of 2 ways. Either use the tipping option in Settings, or create a donation product and add it to the cart page (or wherever) as an optional purchase.
It can also help you create your metafield.
Shopify has an entire library of help sections, there are countless YouTube how-to’s, but this little guy is very under-utilized.

You kinda forgot to [Insert Theme Name].
Maxiumus3 is right though, just create a donation as a product and turn off the tax.
