Looking for expert feedback to perfect my new webshop

Hi everyone! I’m new to Shopify and recently built my own webshop, violasky.com/en, to showcase my designs and collections. Since this is my first time creating an online store, I’d love to get some feedback from the community on how to improve it. Any insights, suggestions, or critiques would be greatly appreciated!

Here are a few questions to guide your feedback:

1. First Impressions- What is your initial impression when landing on the homepage? Does it immediately convey what the store is about?

2. User Experience- Is the navigation intuitive? Can you easily find what you’re looking for?

  • How does the store perform on mobile compared to desktop?

3. Design & Aesthetic- Do the design, colors, and images reflect the brand well? Is there anything you’d change about the visual appeal?

4. Product Pages- Do the product pages provide enough detail (descriptions, images, etc.) to help you make a purchase decision?

5. Checkout Process- How would you rate the checkout experience? Were there any issues or friction points?

6. Trust & Credibility- Does the store feel professional and trustworthy? Are there areas where it could be improved to build more confidence?

7. Suggestions for Improvement- Are there any additional features or changes you would recommend to enhance the overall shopping experience?

Thank you so much for taking your time. Best regards Sonja/Viola Sky

Hi Sonja

First, I am not an expert and also will not follow your guide for feedback. Looks like ChatGPT wrote that :slightly_smiling_face: but it is OK.

But here is my feedback:

Homepage:

  • The announcement bar is not translated to English and also does not have a link, which is a missed opportunity to guide customers
  • Menu/header items are barely visible as two of the banner images have light top sections
  • Mega menu items have too much empty space, and think customers can not focus properly
  • The banner is taking up a bit too much space
  • 4th collection image is a bit off as it does not fill space like the rest of them, and hover animation is a bit laggy
  • Welcome text is too small for me, a 14px does enable you to have more text but for me, 16px is the minimum. And this seams to be throughout the site, on other pages.
  • The reviews section is a bit bland, the text does not bring attention, and think at least user names could be bold to be more distinct from the rest of the text
  • The footer text is not too readable, contrast is just 2.25 from the recommended 4.5, Note menu and other sections have also values below 4.5 but closer so not that noticeable. So not just that it not that readable, it does not make to clear signal to customers, like menu, and reviews.
  • Also, think your contact information could be on the left side, there is some blank space.

Collection pages:

  • Your 3 main collections look different. One has text and sub-collections, the second has breadcrumbs and a title (note here is too much space), and a third has no text and no title but has a sub-collection
  • Sort/filter bar also because of contrast is barely visible

Product page:

  • Missing some reviews app
  • Complete the look missing “Add to cart” button, so a customer can stay on the page and add other products quickly

Slideout Cart:

  • It could use some upsell section, it is a lot of unused space.

Checkout:

  • It should be customized to match the site colors, to some degree, the store is mostly light pink but then changes to white at checkout
  • I expected Klarna as an option but that may not be an issue

And these are just some things that I noticed. In general, your store is very professional and better than most of the stores, for a first time built.

It has great images, some videos ( there should be more), and enough content/text. Great theme choice, also. Full contact/business details and several pages are a plus. A lot of stores do fail to do that.

Wish you the best of luck with sales.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me these very useful advice.
This is all issues I haven’t thought about.
I am very grateful for your feedback and will start see what I can do to improve the shop.
Yes I am sorry the ChatGBT. My strength lies in the creative and not in the written, so this feature helps me a lot. :slightly_smiling_face:

Very best Sonja

Hi Sonja or @Viola_Sky !

I’m Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.

First off, kudos on launching Viola Sky Lingerie - Beautiful, Feminine Underwear, Nightwear and Swimwear! It sounds like you might be channeling your inner ChatGPT with that well-structured question! I half expected a robot to pop up and help me navigate your site. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: But seriously, here’s my feedback based on your thoughtful prompts:
Here’s some feedback based on your thoughtful prompts and additional insights I noticed:

First, the homepage should clearly convey what your brand is about. A captivating hero image paired with a catchy tagline can effectively communicate your identity. To improve user focus, consider adjusting your mega menu items to reduce empty space; a tighter layout will help streamline navigation. Additionally, the banner currently takes up significant space—resizing it to around 1200x600 pixels could maintain impact while allowing more content to be visible.

For design and aesthetics, maintain consistency with your color palette, fonts, and images. If any images appear pixelated or the layout feels cluttered, addressing these can elevate your store’s charm. The reviews section feels a bit bland; making user names bold will help them stand out. Consider integrating a review app from the Shopify App Store, as customer reviews can significantly boost conversion rates.

Regarding the checkout experience, customizing the checkout page to match your site’s colors more closely—keeping the light pink theme—can create a cohesive experience. While it would be beneficial to include Klarna as a payment option, ensure you offer a variety of methods to cater to diverse customer preferences.

Overall, your store is impressive for a first-time build! It features high-quality images and sufficient content, and your theme choice is spot on. Including full contact and business details along with several well-organized pages is definitely a strength.

Lastly, I recommend utilizing tools like Google Analytics or Shopify Analytics to track user behavior. This data can provide insights into areas needing improvement, such as drop-off points during checkout.

Feel free to reach out if you want to discuss specific aspects further or share updates on changes you implement based on this feedback. Best of luck with everything!

If you find these suggestions helpful for you, please let me know by giving BON Loyalty a ‘LIKE’ or marking it as a ‘SOLUTION’.

Hi @Viola_Sky ,

I’m from Mageplaza, a Shopify solution expert.

I would be glad to review your website and provide feedback on improving its performance. Below are some suggestions to improve the UX/ UI:

1. Adding promotional banners and improving promotional sections on homepage

You should add seasonal banners for current promotions or collections (e.g., Summer Sale, Winter Collection) to catch the attention of customers.

Featuring sections like “Best Sellers” and “On Sale”, New arrivals on the homepage can drive attention to popular and discounted products, encouraging visitors to engage more with your site.

2. Adding review sections

Displaying customer reviews can build trust and provide social proof, helping potential buyers make informed decisions. Here is a reference:

3. Adding chat box and FAQ page

A FAQ page/ help center/ chat box that includes general information will address customers’ concerns more quickly, encouraging them to buy your products. See a reference below:

I hope my suggestions are helpful, feel free to give me any feedback. Good luck!

Hi @Viola_Sky

I checked out Viola Sky Lingerie - Beautiful, Feminine Underwear, Nightwear and Swimwear and went through your store carefully to understand what you’re aiming for. First off, I want to say that you’ve done a solid job putting everything together—your designs are unique, and the store has a clean, modern feel. Now, let’s break it down based on your questions and see where you can refine things for a better shopping experience.

1. First Impressions

When landing on your homepage, I can see that your brand has a strong aesthetic, but the messaging could be a bit clearer. A visitor should instantly understand what you sell, who it’s for, and why they should care. Right now, if someone lands on your site without context, they might need a second to figure it out.

  • Consider adding a strong headline above the fold that defines your brand in a short, impactful way.
  • A short tagline or mission statement would also help make it more engaging.

2. User Experience- Navigation: The menu is clean, but make sure your main categories are intuitive. If you have a lot of product categories, consider adding a mega menu for better organization.

  • Mobile vs. Desktop: Your mobile experience should be seamless since many shoppers browse via mobile. I noticed some elements (like spacing in the product grid) could be more optimized for smaller screens—check this with Shopify’s mobile preview tool.
  • Loading Speed: Your images are high-quality, which is great, but make sure they are optimized so they don’t slow down the site. You can use a tool like TinyPNG to compress them without losing quality.

3. Design & Aesthetic

Your design feels premium, but here are a few tweaks you could consider:

  • Typography & Spacing: Make sure your fonts are consistent and readable across all sections. If your branding allows, using a slightly larger font size can improve readability.
  • Call-to-Action (CTA) Buttons: Make your CTAs (like “Shop Now” or “Add to Cart”) stand out with clear contrast. Right now, they could be a bit more attention-grabbing.

4. Product Pages

You’ve got good product images, but the descriptions could be more persuasive and detailed:

  • Include benefits, materials, and care instructions so customers feel confident in their purchase.
  • Consider adding a size guide or a “How it fits” section if sizing is a concern.
  • More lifestyle images (showing the product in real-life scenarios) can help customers visualize using your designs.

5. Checkout Process- I tested the checkout flow, and it seems functional, but trust signals are key here. Adding:

  • Payment method icons (Visa, PayPal, etc.)
  • A short “Why buy from us?” reassurance text
  • A guest checkout option (if not enabled) to speed things up
These small elements can reduce cart abandonment.

6. Trust & Credibility- A Testimonials or Reviews section would help boost credibility.

  • Make sure you have a clear return & refund policy linked in the footer.
  • If possible, adding a “Meet the Designer” or “About Us” page with a personal story can make your brand feel more relatable.

7. Suggestions for Improvement- Live Chat Option: If feasible, add a chatbot or a quick contact feature so visitors can ask questions easily.

  • Email Capture Popup: Offer a small discount or exclusive access in exchange for an email subscription.
  • Social Proof: Display your Instagram feed or UGC (User-Generated Content) if you have active customers sharing your designs.

Overall, you’re on the right track, and with these refinements, your webshop will look even more polished and conversion-friendly.

If you need any other assistance, feel free to ask, and I will try my best to support you.
Best regards,
Daisy.
