Looking for feedback on my site please

Hi all, what a great resource place this is!

I have recently launched my business, not gunna lie, on a bit of a shoestring budget, and first time setting up a website.

It looks good to me but wondering if anyone could pop on and just have a quick glance and let me know if there are any issues or major red flags with it.

I am going for a minimalist style, and I am aware I only have a few products, which is a small trust signal.

I’m not getting alot of traffic only been live a few days so not expecting miracles, just want to ensure it’s all looking good before I drive traffic to it and it will convert well.

Any feedback welcome, both good and the brutally honest please .

Website is www.solentbeardco.co.uk

Many thanks

Hi @Matt1988

Welcome to the community and congratulations on the launch of your store. And you are right, it is a great resource  Do spend some time in research in topics with “no sales”, zero sales" and “store feedback”. There are a lot of good tips you may try.

It is basic a bit but fine for a start. That free theme does not much features and some strange design choises but it is a start.

Here are a few things to consider:

  • Have a link in the announcement bar to all products
  • Your image slider is just too big and takes too much space, plus only 3rd slide has a call to action button. I would replace all that with one, small height image with all your products, with a clear description of what your store’s main thing is.“Hand made beard Oil and butter” softens, nourishes, and tames even the wiriest beards." And have that change from time to time, for example, for Valentines, different imags you already have and text.
  • Featured products on the homepage you do not actually need. Have 3 image/text sections with product image and cusotm text with most importatn features.
  • Do add your image and part of text from About us on the homepage, that is relly good trust signal and way to connect with customers but also showing that you use your own products.
  • footer is so empty but you do not have much to add but try some links.

You do have 3 products but that yo ucan use and make 3 product templates and make product pages a bit better. Add unique images some more text, maybe explain each ingredient a bit more.

Good luck with your store and hope

Hi @Matt1988

To start, your social links are broken. I did manage to find your Facebook and Instagram. You don’t have many followers. I bring this up because when you’re first starting a store, you will need to rely on traffic from places like social media. If you don’t have a big following then you wouldn’t get a lot of traffic.

Your products are listed on the Shop App but that’s all there is. You didn’t add a description of the store or anything.

You don’t have any collection pages. When your store starts getting indexed by search engines, a well-optimized collection page can bring in traffic from search engines. Just because you only have 3 products doesn’t mean you have to design your store like there’s only 3 products. You should have at least 2 collection pages, beard oil and beard butter. Then, write a description for each collection page put a link to the collections in your nav bar.

Add more to your product pages. Add an FAQ and trust signals.

Once you do all that, you should be get more traffic. Then, you could install my app, Away From Free Shipping, and you can increase your AOV. But you need to get those first few order before you worry about AOV.

Thank you very much for your feedback! I didn’t realise that the app doesn’t pull across data!

I’ll have to check the social links, as they were a pain, I’ll have another look, and yes I am aware my follower counts are low on socials, I am working to get those up along with engagement, got a few things for me to try

And collections great idea, especially from the SEO side of things, didn’t think of that!

Once the site is rocking and rolling I’ll definitely add some sort of app that will show the customer how close they are to free shipping.

Thank you again.

Hi @Matt1988

No problem!! Glad I could help!! Sorry, if my tone came off as cold or rude. I was just trying to figure out how to get the information out.

I have total respect for anyone starting their own Shopify store and everyone has to start at 0.

No not at all! The to the point is great .

I have fixed the links (was a typo in 2 of them).

And as far as marketing goes, social is going to be my main one, I just need to find the right format that engages with people. Tbh I have only just worked out the story I want to tell lol.

And yeh setting up a business is definitely not easy

With time, you’ll see traffic from search engines as long as you optimize your pages… but it will take a while

Thanks for all your help! Made quite a few big tweaks to it, still got a few more to do, but you have all been incredibly helpful! Hopefully it looks a bit more polished and professional now

Thank you for your feedback I am unsure if I can as there is only one item in each collection. I have tried changing all the settings…

If you know how to please let me know:)

@Matt1988

I would work on the Aesthetics of the site. Light cream color doesn’t really fit the product category. Some timber and pine colors and accents would work well.

This is absolutely unequivocally NOT the best option. It’s AN option. An expensive, and often unnecessary option (and sometimes lethal to the unsuspecting and trusting business owner).

Thank you for your feedback, I’ve made some minor tweaks to it.

And thank you for the clarification, I know I don’t need expert help just yet, unless I’m getting loads of traffic and very little sales
