Looking for honest feedback on my Shopify store – what works and what doesn’t?

Hi everyone, I’d love to get some community feedback. https://emdonline.co.za/

  • First impressions of the homepage (does it grab attention?)

  • Product presentation (images, descriptions, pricing clarity)

  • Trust signals (policies, reviews, payment options)

  • Overall design and branding (does it feel professional and consistent?)

  • Anything that might discourage a customer from completing a purchase

Please don’t hold back - I’d rather hear the tough truths now so I can improve. Constructive criticism is very welcome!

Thank you!

First impressions of the homepage (does it grab attention?)

No, you have widgets everywhere, left, right, bottom left, bottom right. how much more widgets are you thinking of adding?

Product presentation (images, descriptions, pricing clarity)

Trust signals (policies, reviews, payment options)

There is no trust signals, theres nothing about your company/business. There is no way of contacting you besides a contact form. The only thing I trust on your website is the 1 star review.

Hi @STQKON_Bytes

It is not as bad as some stores that are just starting; you have a solid menu and products, and images. Solid base but needs more work.

  • First impressions of the homepage (does it grab attention?)

It somehow does, from the homepage, the hero slider has some content, text on slides, but it is a bit fast. Plus whole image should be a link. Same as 3 images below. Not sure if those 3 are the best choice thout to have, but ok. And then it goes ato long list of collections, products. collections, products, that should be organized better and have a few sections with text, some reviews, and testimonials. But also strange you do not have a single video as your products are connected with action.

  • Product presentation (images, descriptions, pricing clarity)

Fine, you should not place a price in the middle of text, it looks that way and could be larger and in dfferent color. And some products ahve too long description so price could be missed. You can place it after title and review stars. Also, please make Add to cart with an accent color or at least a full black background and white text, like this is not that dominant on the page. You have 2 start at the top, but for reviews, you have empty space in the middle

  • Trust signals (policies, reviews, payment options)
Here you have a problem. Your terms start from point 19, and you do not have all bussiness info. You do have an email and WhatsApp number, but to me, that is not enough. Full address and business registration number if available. Next, no about us page, no team page. You say, “With over 20 years of experience and knowledge collectively in our group.” That sounds good, but you could also write 40 years of experience, no proof. Payment options looks fine.
  • Overall design and branding (does it feel professional and consistent?)
Overall, not bad. Personally, not a fan of the logo. Grids have no gap, so the cards look too close. You seems to have issues with buttons, plus to me outline buttons are not great. For example:

This Checkout button is hard to find, and buy it now is just text on the product page.
  • Anything that might discourage a customer from completing a purchase
For me, is that contac, business information. And a lack of seeing a person behind the store.

Solid store and good luck with sales.

Fix the hero slider. On mobile the images aren’t good. Also the auto scroll is dumb fast and messes up the user’s ability to swipe.

You seem to have different phone numbers in different places.

There’s already a large dirt bike and ATV presence in South Africa. Check out your competitors sites.

Took a look at the store. First thing I noticed on desktop is that the hero slider and the three category cards below it are loading as grey placeholders with no images visible. Not sure if this is a temporary issue or a CDN/lazy loading problem, but it’s the very first thing visitors see so worth checking urgently.

The others have covered the design and trust signal basics really well, so I’ll focus on something specific to your niche. Selling dirt bikes and ATVs online is a fundamentally different game than selling most Shopify products. These are high-consideration purchases where people spend weeks researching before they buy. The store right now is structured like a standard product catalog, and for items at this price point that’s usually not enough to get someone to click “buy.”

What would really help is giving buyers the information they’re already looking for elsewhere. Detailed spec comparison tables between models, a buyer’s guide that helps people choose between a 125cc and a 250cc, maybe even embedded video reviews. Right now someone lands on your product page and gets a description and a price, but for a purchase this big they need way more context to feel confident.

The other thing I didn’t see anywhere is warranty and after-sales information. For motorized vehicles that’s usually one of the top concerns. What happens when something needs servicing? Where do they get parts? Even a simple FAQ covering that would remove a major objection for anyone considering buying from an online store instead of a local dealer.

Where are you getting most of your traffic right now? If it’s organic search, the spec and comparison content could do double duty as SEO pages too.

Hard to give specific feedback without a link to the store, but here’s what I’d self-audit first: check your product pages for clear photos, pricing, and a visible Add to Cart button above the fold. Then look at trust signals — reviews, shipping info, return policy — all visible before checkout.

Go to Analytics > Reports > Sessions by landing page to see where people drop off. If traffic’s decent but conversions are low, it’s usually one of those three areas. Drop your store link and I can give you something more specific.

You’ve got a decent base — navigation, product images, and structure are in place. But the store feels a bit cluttered and doesn’t build enough confidence for someone to complete a purchase.

The homepage needs attention first. There’s too much going on — pop-ups, fast sliders, and unclear sections — which can feel overwhelming, especially on mobile. Simplifying this will help users focus better.

The bigger issue is trust. Key pages like About Us and policies are missing or weak, and there’s limited business information. These are things customers look for before buying. Also, adding a proper footer with all important links would help a lot.

Product pages can be improved too — make pricing more visible, keep descriptions tighter, and highlight the Add to Cart button better.

Overall, it’s more of a store completeness and trust issue. Fix these basics first, and you should see a clear improvement in conversions.

Hi , @STQKON_Bytes

I went through your site using Pagespeed Insight https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis/https-emdonline-co-za/jy47xmfs9h?form_factor=mobile here’s a breakdown of what works and what could improve :

1.First impression (Homepage) :

The layout is clean, but the main message isn’t immediately clear. Add a strong headline explaining what you sell . Also, use a more product-focused hero image .

  1. Product pages :
  • Add more product images (different angles or close-ups if possible)
  • Include a short bullet-point section highlighting key features
  1. Trust signals :
  • Display payment method icons and security reassurance near the add-to-cart button
  • Make your refund/return policy more visible
  1. Reducing friction :
  • Show shipping costs or estimates earlier in the process
  • Add a short “Why buy from us?” section .
  • Ensure checkout is quick and simple

Overall, a solid site - these small tweaks should make a noticeable difference.

Hope this helps!

One more thing to consider is site speed optimizing images and load times can improve conversions. Apps like Website Speedy can help with that if you’re exploring optimization options. It’s completely optional to use.

thank you for your feedback.

Hi, the store link is in the post if you want to have another look and give me your feedback.

thank you so much for your feedback, it is truly appreciated. I will work on implementing your changes. We run google and facebook ads. We also have a physical store which is where we get most of our clients from. I just wanted some advice on things I may be missing to convert customers who don’t visit the physical store.

Thank you for your honest and detailed feedback, I will implement your advice and make the necessary changes. These are things I definitely overlooked as we have a physical store and majority of our clients buy from us online as well. Thanks again

what works and what doesn’t?

Being consistent, self awareness and respecting other peoples time.
Would you buy from a site that looks like that or would you bounce instantly.

If you thought yes your ego’s in for a really bad reality check unless you have mega $$$ to burn on ads.

Do your own homework: Store Feedback , until you learn some of the cliches.
Then do the important work of showing your work to indicate understanding and the bare minimum of self awareness in running an online store.
Or delegate so your not burning time away playing web designer.

Otherwise your gonna waste a ton of time on busy work and suggestions you could get by doing any basic search on the forums, or internet checklists , or now a days any chatbot that accepts screenshots.
Because you haven’t actually learned anything except train yourself to hope other people can point out ecom101 bottom of the barrel flaws.

And for goodness sake get rid of the slideshow and most the doodads, make an actual choices and prioritize ONE thing in a hero image, prioritize ONE call to action.
It’s supposed to be an online store that respects customers not a crowded messy bazar.
At least you don’t have fake countdown timers though so there’s some hope.
