I am having this idea: I want to create a mystery box experience for customers on Christmas, something similar to the Christmas Advent calendar, but in an online environment.
Each day from the 12th day counting down, customers can purchase a mystery box and have a chance to receive items from a list that will be slightly changed on the next day.
Does everyone know what apps on Shopify allow this to happen? Many thanks!

I understand your requirements. You can try the “Profit Bundles & Mystery Boxes” app — it allows you to create a product pool for your mystery box, and the app will automatically select products based on the item-picking rules you set.
You can also update the product pool daily so that customers receive items from your updated products each day.
For simple scenarios
Post-checkout , this can technically be done with shopifys free shopify-flow app using order-editing.
Pre-checkout this could also be done at checkout-time with the general purpose automation app mechanic using draft orders.
I.e. put “mystery” product > send cart to mechanic > send back draft order with revealed item
For complex scenarios merchants probably do want to use an app dedicated to the purpose for a streamlined workflow , like ProfitLabsHQ has recommended.
