Hi I have this store for about several months. I have had google ads for approx a year, getting around 200 visits a day, and still increasing, but not a good conversion rate or even add to cart. I have tried the checking out process myself and it works fine. I really need someone to give me some advice on where the key problem is, thank you!
my store is: www.divinehairandbeauty.co.nz
It’s great to hear that your traffic is growing! However, if you’re not seeing the conversions or add-to-carts you’d like, it might be worth revisiting the effectiveness of your website’s front page.
The front page plays a critical role in capturing and maintaining visitor interest. If it’s not engaging or guiding visitors effectively, this could be impacting your conversion rates. Here are a few areas to consider:
1. Visual Appeal- Design and Layout: Ensure the design is attractive and aligns with your brand identity. An engaging layout can help retain visitors.
- High-Quality Imagery: Use clear, high-quality images that effectively showcase your products.
2. Value Proposition- Clear Messaging: Highlight what makes your store unique and why visitors should choose you. Make sure this message is easily visible.
- Effective CTAs: Place clear and compelling calls-to-action that guide visitors towards exploring products or making a purchase.
3. User Engagement- Interactive Features: Incorporate elements like featured products, promotions, or customer testimonials to engage visitors.
- Ease of Navigation: Make it easy for visitors to find what they’re looking for with straightforward navigation and search functions.
4. Trust and Credibility- Trust Signals: Include elements such as customer reviews, ratings, and security badges to build trust with your audience.
- Contact Information: Ensure your contact details are easy to find so visitors feel they can reach out if needed.
5. Performance Analysis- Analytics: Use tools like Google Analytics to monitor how visitors interact with your front page and identify any drop-off points.
- A/B Testing: Test different front page variations to see which one drives better engagement and conversions.
Improving your front page to be more engaging and conversion-focused could significantly enhance your sales performance. If you need more specific advice or help with these changes, feel free to reach out!
Hi @EmmaDivine ,
Improving conversion rates can be challenging, but there are several strategies you can consider to enhance your store’s performance:
-
Technical Optimization: Ensure your store is technically sound. This includes fast loading times and mobile usability. Shoppers expect quick and seamless experiences, so any technical hiccups can deter potential buyers.
I checked your website https://divinehairandbeauty.co.nz/ in Page Speed insights tool and the mobile performance score is 50. Please know that mobile performance is vital for delivering a positive user experience, improving search engine rankings, increasing conversions, staying competitive, and ensuring accessibility. Prioritizing mobile optimization helps ensure your website meets the needs and expectations of today’s mobile-centric users.
-
User Experience (UX): Make it easy for users to browse your products. Ensure that your category pages are easily accessible and consider adding a search function to help users find products quickly.
-
Trust Signals: Build trust with your customers by having a good contact page, security seals, and customer reviews. Trust is crucial, especially for larger purchases.
-
Checkout Optimization: Simplify the checkout process. Allow guest checkouts and keep the process short to prevent cart abandonment. Consider using progress bars if the checkout has multiple steps.
-
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Focus on the user journey and test different setups of your shopping cart to see which performs better. Track, test, change, and improve continuously.
-
Customer Support: Sometimes, adding a simple message like “You’ve made an excellent choice” can reassure customers and increase sales by supporting their decision-making process.
By addressing these areas, you may be able to identify and resolve the key issues affecting your conversion rates.

How do i improve the mobile performance
Hi @EmmaDivine ,
To improve mobile performance in Shopify, you can follow these steps:
-
Optimize for Speed: Speed is crucial for mobile UX. You can use tools like Squoosh to reduce image sizes and combine/minify CSS and JavaScript files to reduce server requests.
-
Optimize Images: Compress images before uploading them to Shopify. Shopify automatically compresses images and converts them to the WebP format, but you can use additional apps from the Shopify App Store like Crush.pics for further optimization.
-
Lazy Loading: Implement lazy loading for images so they only load when they appear on the screen. Shopify supports native lazy loading, which can be implemented using
.
-
Check Mobile-Friendliness: Ensure your store functions correctly on mobile devices by testing the user experience and checking how images load, animations work, and the menu structure.
-
Use a Lightweight Theme: Choose a highly optimized, lightweight theme to ensure faster loading times.
-
Test with Lighthouse: Regularly run a Lighthouse test to get insights into your store’s performance and identify areas for improvement.

Hello,
I can also offer a perspective, of course, from our area of expertise (Datma being a product analytics and reporting app). A good understanding of your product offering and how your potential customers (visitors) are interacting with it can also help. Data points like: which products are generating views and add to carts, which products have low (or high) conversion or abandonment rates. All this visibility helps you to be able to take actions in improving the product offer, the pricing or other factors that in the end would result in an improved overall conversion rate and more sales.
Look at a demo (no signup needed) to have a better impression about what kind of measurements I have in mind: https://demo.datma.io/shopify/reporting/metrics/1416 - this a direct link to a reports with all products with conversions, add to carts, abandonment rates.
Also, I checked your store URL and its currently an error page…
Best,
Peter [email removed] Datma
I checked your site at thecarbonfootprint.ai and it gave a score of 84%, which is great. As you are getting traffic but not converting, maybe it’s with user experience elements such as slow-loading pages, poor calls to action, or lack of trust elements (such as reviews or badges). Even if the checkout is fine, small friction points can prevent people from adding to cart. Enhancing performance and streamlining the buying process would go a long way to get those visitors to convert into customers.
