I am getting a lot of people who add to shopping cart, go to the checkout page, but i have not made any sales yet for some reason, i hope someone can advise/help me with this, thanks.
Hi @user2570
Welcome to the community.
And to say first, do use the search feature here; there are a lot, a lot, of similar topics. A lot of merchants like you are in the same situation with no sales. But also a lot of good advice. Do spend some time in research.
Second, how do you know it is people who are adding products to the cart? There are so many bots, crawlers, but also scammers that run some scripts, that you can not be certain it is all people.
I think you bought a shop with the theme, “winning product,” from a dropshipping service, right? They do have that design that repeats a lot, plus that extra feature of the “bundle and save feature,” and us vs them table is so bad. Note that there are a lot of fake/scam stores that use the same template design, with the Dawn or Shine pro theme.
And your store does not look much different from those fake stores, so that is not good, and customers may just leave for that. To me there is nothing unique about your store; that product can be found everywhere. For example, check warmzee dot com. It is very similar but done a bit better, but they have a 70% discount
When that is random and you enter the value you want. But also no contact information, so again, it can be a fake store.
Hi @user2570
I’ve taken a look at your store, and here is some advice and a few things you can check to help diagnose and fix the issue.
1. Unexpectedly High Shipping Costs
This is the number one reason for checkout abandonment across all e-commerce. Customers may be happy with the price of the product, but if they get to the checkout and are surprised by a high shipping fee, they will often leave.
- Your Store’s Shipping: I went through the process on your store and the shipping cost to my location was significant. If this is the case for most of your customers, it’s likely a major factor.
What to do:
-
Be Transparent Upfront: If shipping is expensive, state it clearly on the product page. A “shipping calculated at checkout” message is standard, but if you can provide an estimate earlier, that’s even better.
-
Offer Free Shipping: If possible, try to work the cost of shipping into your product price and offer “Free Shipping.” This is a huge psychological incentive. You could also offer free shipping on orders over a certain amount (e.g., “Free shipping on orders over $50”).
-
Offer Flat-Rate Shipping: This can help manage customer expectations. A simple, flat rate for all domestic orders can sometimes be more appealing than a variable rate calculated at the last minute.
2. Lack of Trust and Credibility
Customers are very cautious about where they enter their credit card information. If your store doesn’t look professional and trustworthy, they will hesitate at the final step.
What to do:
-
Add Trust Badges: Include logos of well-known payment providers like Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, etc., on your checkout page and in your store’s footer. Shopify usually does this by default, but make sure they are visible.
-
Professional “About Us” and Contact Pages: A well-written “About Us” page tells customers who you are, and a clear “Contact Us” page with an email address or contact form shows that you are a legitimate business.
-
Clear Policies: Make sure you have easily accessible pages for your Return Policy, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Service. This is a standard practice that builds trust.
3. Limited Payment Options
If a customer gets to the checkout and doesn’t see their preferred payment method, they might not bother to find their credit card and will simply leave.
What to do:
- Enable Multiple Payment Gateways: In addition to the standard Shopify Payments (which covers major credit cards), make sure you have enabled other popular options like PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. These are often called “accelerated checkouts” and are very popular because they are fast and convenient.
4. Forced Account Creation
Many customers do not want to create an account just to make a single purchase. Forcing them to do so is a common reason for abandonment.
What to do:
- Enable Guest Checkout: Make sure this is turned on in your Shopify settings. This allows customers to check out without creating an account and is the standard for most online stores. You can find this setting in Shopify Admin > Settings > Checkout.
5. Technical Issues or a Confusing Checkout Process
Sometimes, there might be a technical glitch or something in the checkout flow that is confusing customers.
What to do:
-
Test the Checkout Yourself: Go through the entire checkout process on your store, from adding a product to the cart to the final payment step. Do this on both a desktop computer and a mobile device. Is there anything that doesn’t work smoothly? Are there any error messages?
-
Use a Friend: Ask a friend or family member to try and buy something from your store and watch them do it. They might get stuck on something that you didn’t even notice.
By addressing these common issues, you should be able to significantly reduce your checkout abandonment rate and start converting those interested shoppers into sales. Good luck!
Thank you!
Hi,
Hope this will help
- Must-fix: inventory/“Sold out” conflict, remove subscription text, simplify payment methods and add clear shipping.
- Trust: consistent pricing, real reviews/photos and correct currency.
- Speed-boosters: enable Shop Pay/Apple/Google Pay, turn on abandoned-checkout emails and run a test order.
Focus on these areas:
Checkout Friction
-
Enable guest checkout
-
Add multiple payment options (Shop Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay)
-
Show all costs upfront - no surprise shipping fees
Trust Gaps
-
Add security badges to checkout
-
Display return policy clearly
-
Show customer reviews with photos
Urgency & Value
-
Consider the free shipping threshold
-
Add limited stock indicators
For boosting conversions, consider these apps:
-
Hoppy Bundles creates product bundles and volume discounts to increase average order value.
-
Super Trust Badges & Icons adds security badges to build customer trust and reduce abandoned carts.
-
Hoppy Free Shipping Bar & Upsell displays a progress bar toward free shipping to encourage higher spending.
Full disclosure: I’m on the team behind these apps.
Hey, thanks for your feedback. sorry for the late response, i was not available. What do you mean by “remove subscription text“? Thanks in advance.
Well I can tell right away that you’re lying to customers. The reviews are fake and here is the proof that you stole pictures from another website.
You took a screenshot of this and made up a fake review. So I think there is no doubt you are a scammer. The product may well exist. You may have a “legit” dropshipping scheme. But you are definitely a scammer.
Hello there @user2570 I have had a proper look at your store and here are a few suggestions I have on how it could be improved
- Add in sections like trending arrivals and best sellers to make customers more inclined to take a look at certain products.
- Display some FAQs on the homepage to provide answers to questions that customers would likely have regarding the product itself
- You should include the social media accounts and accepted payment methods at the bottom of the homepage.
