Greetings,
I’ve been testing a new product the past few weeks and it has been selling okay but not too great (converting about 2.5%). My problem is that with this product, most days I get around 50 add to carts, and only around 10 sales. I have researched, and tried everything I could think of to fix the issue and I have ran out of ideas. MTD I have 511 add to carts, and only 83 sales. It hurts my heart seeing all these missed opportunities. Usually my store converts around 4-5% and add to cart ratio is around 50% for other products. Any help is appreciated. My store is shophappytulip.com and the product is the Baby Plaque.
Hello @HappyTulip ,
Greetings from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $5Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot! I am Gina, and I am here to help.
I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing low conversion rates for your new product. It sounds like you’ve already done a lot of work to try to improve the situation, but I can offer a few suggestions that might help:
- Your store’s header menu look can be made more professional. The menu items are not easily visible. Either change the menu black background color or increase the font size and make bolder.
- Add sections like ‘New Arrivals’, ‘Featured Collection’, ‘Hot Sellers’ to help keep customers updated on new products and give exposure to new collections.
- Add more detailed product description in product pages. The product description should provide visitors with important information about the features and benefits of the product so they are motivated to buy.
- Display store’s contact info like phone number, email address, and office address in the Contact Us page.
- Create a Facebook account for your store. Having a Facebook Store is a great way to grow your business, allowing you to tap into new audiences and gain more customers.
- Add About Us page which is a reflection of the purpose and personality of the business.
- Add average ratings for each product
Including both user rating and number of ratings on the products will help users to make decision whether to buy your product or not.
- Add sticky header
Adding sticky header allow users to quickly access the navigation, search, and utility-navigation elements without scrolling up to the top of the page. They increase the discoverability of the elements in the header and the chance that users will take advantage of them.
- Add Blogging in the store
Blogging is an amazing way to drive traffic to your website and increase your SEO. The more your blog, the more content the search engines have to crawl and index. This means they can easily recognize that your site is a resource of information for people to access.
- Consider your pricing strategy
Are you pricing your product competitively with similar products on the market? If not, consider adjusting your prices to better align with customer expectations. Additionally, consider offering discounts or promotions to incentivize customers to make a purchase.
- Address customer concerns:
Look at your reviews and feedback from customers to see if there are any common concerns or complaints. If so, try to address these issues to make customers feel more confident in their purchase decision.
- Optimize your checkout process
Make sure that your checkout process is simple and straightforward. Minimize the number of steps required to complete a purchase and ensure that the process is mobile-friendly. Consider adding trusted payment options like PayPal to increase customer trust.
- Test different marketing strategies
Experiment with different marketing strategies to see what resonates with your target audience. Consider running targeted social media ads or partnering with influencers to increase visibility and drive traffic to your site.
Overall, it’s important to be patient and persistent in your efforts to improve your conversion rates. Keep track of your metrics and make small changes over time to see what works best. Good luck!
Gina
Hello, I am sorry but I don’t know if you looked at the correct website, as I have almost everything that you mentioned. There is no black background color anywhere, products have very very detailed descriptions every single one of them is paragraphs look at the product pages. Please disregard the scented boxes, idk if you even read my question this is about the baby plaque. I do have a facebook page for my store, and i do have a contact page as well. Please reread my question its not even about store conversion it’s about add to cart conversion ratio for one specific product. Everything else you mentioned is just irrelevant.
Hi @HappyTulip ,
This is Victor from PageFly - Shopify Page Builder App. Based on your question, there are several possible reasons why customers might be adding items to their cart but not completing their purchases:
- Shipping costs: High shipping costs can often discourage customers from completing their purchases. Consider offering free shipping or reducing your shipping costs.
- Complicated checkout process: A long or complicated checkout process can also deter customers from completing their purchases. Streamline your checkout process as much as possible to make it quick and easy for customers to complete their purchases.
- Trust issues: Customers might not trust your website or payment system. Make sure that your website is secure, and provide clear information about your return policy and customer support.
- Technical issues: Technical issues with your website or payment system can also prevent customers from completing their purchases. Make sure to regularly test your website and payment system to ensure that everything is working properly.
- Lack of urgency: Customers might be adding items to their cart with the intention of purchasing them later, but then forget about them. Consider using strategies such as limited-time offers or countdown timers to create a sense of urgency and encourage customers to complete their purchases.
By addressing these possible issues, you can increase the likelihood of customers completing their purchases and improve your eCommerce store’s conversion rate.
I hope this answer will be helpful to you
Best regards,
Victor | PageFly Team
Hi @HappyTulip ,
Congratulations on getting launched! It’s great too that you’re testing out products and monitoring your conversion rates.
The Baby Plaque looks sweet and is obviously aimed at a very particular audience. Do you have your target audience clearly defined?
The product page looks good, however, looking at your store more broadly I can see a few opportunities for improvement.
For example, talking about missed opportunities, you mention that “Each product is put together by hand, made by a family who has perfected the art after 20+ years of creating arrangements for thousands of weddings” - yet you don’t really share that story with visitors on your website or in any content.
You could really establish your brand, mission, and story on your About Us page: 21 About Us Pages That Convert.
And what about your content strategy? Remember that your customer has started forming an opinion of your brand the moment they first encounter it. So how are you raising awareness? What are you saying to your audience? How are you saying it?
I can see that you have an Instagram profile linked to your store, which suggests that you are focusing all your social marketing on one platform. That makes things simpler, certainly, but what you say and how you say it is equally important. Are you sharing:
- guides to using your products
- products that work well together
- your journey in starting this business
- commentary on a major topic within your niche
- interviews with an influencer within your niche
- quotes from interviews
- graphics with product combos from your product guides
- video interviews on Instagram or youtube
- having your interviewee share the interview on their social profiles
You need to build the world that your customer steps into, and that starts from the moment they first encounter your brand through to the point they’re recommending it to their friends.
Thank you for the kind words and I appreciate the fact that you looked into my site to give your answer, however my question is more specific than this. Your notes and suggestions are broad such as improving my social media presence and building the world that my customers step into. Although I appreciate this, I am looking for something more technical. Why specifically is this product having such a poor add to cart conversion rate? Today, I’ve had 50 add to carts and 4 purchases. Is there something I can be adding to my cart page or on the product page is there something I am missing or I guess from an unbiased consumer standpoint, what would you say is the reason you might add this to cart but not proceed to purchase? What am I missing here? Also to answer your audience question, my target audience for this product is new parents (0-2 years). Again thank you very much for the advice, but if you could help with something more technical to answer my question specifically just about this baby plaque I would really appreciate it!
The reason I was asking about your target audience and content is that there is nothing overtly wrong with the single product page. Any suggestions I could make on that front would be cosmetic, such as recommending that you contain all relevant information in one readily accessible blurb at the start of the product page so that customers do not need to keep scrolling to find out more:
I would also recommend that you include accelerated checkouts on your page to give customers the chance to convert quicker.
However, beyond that, it’s a question of encouraging trust from your visitors and that’s why I was referring to how you can establish yourself as an authority in your field.
Hi @HappyTulip Is this still a problem you’re having? Would be happy to help.
you think thats bad, try having 1000+ initiated checkouts and only 10 sales
Hi @HappyTulip , are you still experiencing this issue? Could you please provide your latest update on it? I’m facing a similar situation.
