Low Conversions

Topic summary

Issue: A long-running online store reports a sharp drop in conversion rate despite adding reviews and social proof. Traffic is strong, but visitors aren’t purchasing.

Recent input:

  • Inquiry on whether competitor offerings and pricing have been benchmarked.
  • Feedback that the site’s UX/UI (user experience/user interface) and speed appear solid, suggesting the drop may stem from external factors.
  • Two likely causes: stronger competitor deals or more appealing product assortments (e.g., Amazon, eBay, Shein), and a checkout that may be too long or complicated, leading to cart abandonment.

Suggested actions:

  • Conduct a competitive audit: compare prices, promotions, and product positioning; identify differentiation opportunities.
  • Reposition the brand and clearly communicate the USP (unique selling proposition).
  • Simplify and streamline checkout to reduce friction and time.

Status: No resolution yet. The discussion remains open, with next steps focused on competitor analysis and optimizing the checkout experience to improve conversions.

This is my store, we have been running since 2004, but seen a huge dip in conversion rate & dont know where Im going wrong

I know all the things like reviews (social proof) and implemented all of that but still havent seen any increase

We get traffic - but it doesnt convert, I dont know why they are coming to the site then not buying so any insights would be welcomed ?

Thanks so much in advance

Hi @spoiledbratuk

Do you have competitors? Have you compared the prices of your items with theirs?

Hi @spoiledbratuk ,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I’m Tracy from BON: Loyalty Rewards Referrals.

I’ve visited your store, and it looks stunning with a great UX/UI and good speed. Personally, I don’t think the website itself is the reason for the drop-off in your store. I believe there might be two main reasons:

  • Your competitors might be offering better deals or more appealing products. In today’s market, we are up against giants like Amazon, eBay, and Shein, etc. which offer trendy products at affordable prices for most customers. It’s crucial to look at your competitors, understand their offerings, and see how you can differentiate yourself.

  • Checkout process is too complicated or lengthy: A seamless checkout process is vital. If customers find it cumbersome or time-consuming, they are likely to abandon their cart.

So my recommendation is to take a closer look at your competitors, reposition your brand, and highlight your unique selling proposition (USP). I hope my recommendations is helpful for you.
