When I upload product images, I have a problem with preview images being blurred.
If the first two images have the same orientation (for example both being horizontal) resolution is fine. However, if the second image has a different orientation than the first one, it becomes very blurry and looks unprofessional.
I have the Dawn theme, updated.

Hi there, @liliz . Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community today with your question around product preview images. My name is Imogen. It’s good to meet you!
Shopify Themes will automatically try to optimize images for the best appearance within a theme, so I suspect that the image size is being optimized differently when you’re selecting a different orientation to use for your preview images. Have you tried adjusting the size of the images that are using the different orientation?
Does this issue occur when your first preview image is vertical, and the second is horizontal, resulting in the horizontal image being blurry? Or does this only seem to occur when the first image is horizontal, and the second is vertical? I’m mainly looking to see here if the ‘vertical’ orientation images are blurry regardless of order.
The problem is when the first one is vertical and the second horizontal.
If the first image is horizontal then the preview is smaller so I can’t really say if the second one (vertical) is sharp or not.
I have tried different resolutions, higher and lower, but it didn’t help.
In this situation we recommend ensuring the product images are similar in size and aspect ratio. We also have some suggestions for image type, color profiles, and formatting in our Help Center: Formatting Images. For product media the recommendation is: 2048 x 2048 px for square images. Ensure your images are under 20 MB and 20 megapixels.
You can also try hosting the images outside of Shopify using a third party image host.
