Made to order/ print to order - sku codes / stock control

Topic summary

Main issue: A print-to-order clothing store wants merged inventory control so all t-shirt variants (e.g., small red) deduct from a shared stock of blank tees.

  • Context: The store uses SKU codes (stock-keeping units) but is unsure how to link them to a single shared inventory.
  • Proposed solution: Use the Shopify “Bundles” app to link SKUs so stock adjusts across variants when an item is purchased or cancelled.
  • Technical note: Linking SKUs means different product variants share one underlying inventory count, ensuring accurate stock reduction regardless of size/color.
  • Latest update: The store asked if the suggested app is free due to a tight budget.
  • Status: No confirmation on app pricing or alternative free methods yet; discussion remains open.

Hello,

I’m fairly new to Shopify and I’ve been struggling with setting everything up completely (I’m still learning)

Basically, I’m wondering if there’s a way to add inventory/ stock control that’s merged.

for example, we are a clothing business that prints to order, so we know how many t-shirts we have initially, is there a way to say if someone buys a small red t-shirt it’ll discount that t-shirt from the stock levels altogether?

I’ve set up SKU codes on my products but I’m not sure if they’re merged together.

Hi @BrokenAtelier

You would need this app to get it done: Bundles | Shopify App Store, this way you can link all SKUs together so that if one gets bought or cancelled it would adjust across. Let us know if that helps !

I’ll check it out- is it a free app because we’re on a low budget so we can’t really fork out massively each month
