Is the new reports only being rolled out a small number of people? Clearly it is, because if shopify had done this to everyone in the same day, there’s no telling how they would have gone, because these new reports are not working, and the old ones are gone. My business is at a complete stand still. Anyone else facing this ?
Topic summary
Shopify merchants are experiencing significant disruptions following a rollout of new reporting and analytics features. The updated system has replaced previous reports, leaving many businesses unable to access critical data they rely on daily.
Key Issues Reported:
- Essential reports have been removed or altered (e.g., “Customers Over Time” now lacks customer names)
- Missing or incomplete historical data, particularly for vendors no longer active
- Sales figures appearing inaccurate or incomplete in vendor reports
- Basic data queries (product sold, date, amount for online/in-store) now require complex workarounds
Merchant Concerns:
- The new interface is described as overcomplicated and not designed with actual merchant workflows in mind
- Small business owners who built Excel-based processes around old reports are considering switching platforms
- Comparisons drawn to previous problematic POS system changes
Partial Solutions Emerging:
- Changing dimensions to “Vendors at Time of Sale” and “Product Title at Time of Sale” resolves some historical data issues
- Old reports remain accessible via direct URL:
https://admin.shopify.com/store/YOURSHOPNAME/reports/ - Some users finding the new system customizable once they invest time learning it
The discussion remains active with merchants sharing workarounds while expressing frustration about inadequate testing before deployment.
The new reporting is terrible. it’s overcomplicated and unnecessary - I feel like whoever designs this is not a merchant. We don’t need the automatic charts or historical comparisons that cloud the data; those should be add-ons that users can seek out if they need it. I just want a simple list of best sellers 95% of the time I am checking within shopify for reports.
Not only that, but a report I used that was absolutly essential to my business is gone, it was customers over time. The new one does not have customer name. I’m in complete shock. I can’t make this report now and we depended on it. Without it my business is shut down.
I cant even find how many products were Added to Cart!! All i needed was basic info, (visitors from my country, session duration, bounce rate & added to cart) but now that is all gone (or is hidden) and in its place is a myriad information that most sellers will never need. On Desktop it is very difficult to navigate, and on mobile it is completely impossible. To see anything now I need to SET VALUES. What used to take seconds, now takes forever and without the desired result. Might be time to make the move to Wordpress.

N
ot only is the reporting suite inadequate, but the data is rubbish. I’ve just been on to Shopify help to try to understand why my store’s sales infortmation is incorrect and they have advised that it will take 72 hours after sales before the information is updated. So much for rela-tine tech. Love the “no worries” comment. Complete farce.
I am so frustrated I could cry. The new reporting is horrible. One of the only reports I use is impossible to figure out now. PLEASE SWITCH “SALES BY PRODUCT” BACK SHOPIFY!
So with the help of support I was able to get the data I needed. Its just hard to find at first, at least with the reports I use (customers over time)
It feels like it takes a bit longer than before to get the same info, but I suppose there is more info available now. I was freaking out at first though because a support person told me “customer name is no longer available on this report” . It is , its just in a different place.
Literally insane to me that the most basic data is seemingly impossible to obtain in one single report the way it use to.
All I need to know is what product sold on what date, for how much, for both online sales and in-store, and to be able to pull that report for the last 7 days… I have built out several reports in excel that rely solely on this information. This is how I know how much to pay my individual vendors (antique shop), etc.
Genuinely considering switching platforms if I’m unable to access these reports the way I need to. Plan to contact a representative this week on the matter.
Good luck to all the small business owners out there trying to stay afloat right now. I feel for you!!
I am in the same situtation. IT IS A REAL NIGHTMARE. I am unable to find my key metrics such as my fulfilled orders, the comparison with the past etc… The worse part is that any of my metrics do make sense. They are all wrong based on the excel file I am downloading. @Shopify_77 bring us back the old dashboard !!!
I am in the excat same situation. I could just cry, I am completly lost with these new analytics. The simplest information is impossible to find. It’s a nightmare, I just feel like I can’t pilot my business anymore because I am totally blind. What is the solution apart leaving Shopify ? Are there some Shopify representative to contact ?

We discovered today the main reports we used to use no longer appear to be available. User-friendly analytics and reporting WAS a big plus to using Shopify in the past. We haven’t explored in thoroughly but the new reports are certainly not easy to navigate, and extremely frustrating. This is not a good update so hopefully it isn’t permanent or we might have to switch platforms.
Absolutely horrible. Just like when they changed the POS, its clear that these were never tested by actual customers. So frustrating how little they care about customer experience. Its all about the shareholders.
Yes I need this one too. When I try to add multiple product types to the new reports it comes up with zero results… This company is full of morons who do zero real life testing or research before launching new products.
Way to roll this out at the start of the year! It’s absolute garbage. (screaming into the void). Do better, ya hacks.
You can its done by a programmer. The code at the top in the prime location. .1% will use that.
nothing works. It takes 5 click more to do the same tasks. Just like ditching the pospro. More bad choices.
I’d like to chime in and give my two cents about this new analytics too. It’s way too complicated, I get that updates are needed. But gosh, it’s a bit ridiculous to force us to learn how to write SQL Queries in order to pull a simple report that was working before the update?! Yes we can migrate the old report to the new setup, but if you’re like me I tend to make minor adjustments to the report (like changing the dates, or the product SKU) to get to the info I need. Now I need an IT degree to get to the info.
@Shopify_77 , we’re merchants, NOT programmers! Learn how your customers actually uses your platform before making changes like this!
The recent updates has me thinking of moving back to Wordpress, least I’ll have control over the updates and the changes they may bring.
Well said!!
I do have thank the @Shopify_77 team for listening to my feedback. When I created a Sales by Vendor report today I was once again able to see historical data that includes vendors who are no longer currently in the shop. This is a HUGE relief to once again have that information accessible!
