We are a clothing company that prints in-house on-demand. We stock unprinted blanks and only print on them when orders are placed. For example we have 10 green, short-sleeve t-shirts and offer 2 different designs on that green blank. If I sell 5 of each design I would like both designs to reflect out of stock since our blanks will be gone.
Basically, I’m trying to find a way to have multiple products affect the same base inventory (our blanks) whenever there is a purchase, and have the blank inventory reflect availability of the products that use it.
Thanks

Hello,
As shopify doesn’t allow such variant twisting in their default setup. You should hire a developer and let them play around to make your thoughts work. This is kind of a customizations work which can’t be done using simple statement, it needs to be coded.
Let me know if any.
Thank you
I already have reached out to a developer friend, thanks.
I was curious if there was a simpler solution.

Hello @Lisa1223 ,
There’s few coding solutions to show multiple variants [More then Shopify’s variant limit] in single product. You have to hire a developer to discuss the needs and code it in your theme.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.
Thank you
Hi Dtdujou,
Did you ever find a simple solution for this? We’re looking for the same.
We are also having this issue.
Hi @ftdujour ,
Have you found a solution for your store yet? If not, I’d be happy to suggest one.
To help you better, I just need to know a bit more information: Are you managing your products based on the inventory of blank T-shirts Only, or do you need to track Both the inventory of blank T-shirts and Prints?
Let me know, and I’ll recommend the best approach
.
I am trying to do it with just blanks…any suggestion?
