Managing Customer Emails

I run a small Shopify store, roughly 600 orders/month, with a two man team, I use email as my customer support and send messages via the shopify inbound email service in the order page however its really hard to track and keep a record of messages. Are there any gems out there on low cost ticketing systems that you have used or come across - I don’t want to pay 100s a month for the privilege.

Honestly the hardest part isn’t even replying to customers, it’s figuring out who already replied and where the conversation left off. With a small team, stuff gets buried fast once the same order has 3–4 back-and-forth emails attached to it.

I went through this before and the biggest thing we needed was just a shared timeline tied to the order page so nobody accidentally sends duplicate replies or misses a refund/shipping update. A lot of the cheaper tools technically support email but still feel disconnected from the actual Shopify workflow.
